Linehan May be the best PGC to ever walk the earth. Nobody knows, and that’s why these melts are so stupid.
You're right, he may be the best PGC ever, but he's 56. Odds are we'd know it by now if he were the GOAT.
I don't know very many assistant coaches that peaked at 56.

I feel the PGC position became a lot less sexier with this hire

I think we're all overthinking Linehan's role as PGC relative to what Brady was brought in to do. We may have to be more objective in the assessment of Linehan and realize he may not have been brought in with the same purpose as Brady.
Brady was hired specifically to introduce those spread concepts into the offense last year. He developed that playbook in conjunction with Ensminger and sat next to Ensminger the entire year sharing play calling duties with him. Brady is gone but Ensminger isn't, the playbook still exists, the guy that worked with Brady last year still exists.
Why do we assume that we're trying to recreate Brady's role? We no longer need a Brady to introduce those spread concepts. Maybe Linehan's role as PGC is to be more focused on Brennan and the QBs development and grasp of the playbook
Not an endorsement or condemnation of the hire either way. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. But it may be wise to not consider this another co-OC situation.

Coach O has not built a program on magic aura but on hard work good hires and fantastic recruitment.
Get the f@ck out with magic aura bullsh!t.
Dude, try to comprehend, before responding. I said it won't continue FORWARD (meaning into the future) on a magical aura. In other words, momentum and positive feelings do not prevent you from making bad decisions. Things won't work just "because". Which is the logic being used by many as they say "trust the staff". I tried that with Miles. Didn't work.
Understand now?

ut I'm unbiased enough to realize that this past year isn't going carry forward into future seasons, simply on the basis of some magic aura

I've seen too many instances of programs rising and falling with the Sun, to sit here and think that Orgeron is infallible
Well there it is. You and ProjectP and the other melters are fully qualified to recognize a good or bad hire before they even step foot on campus.
Btw, no one has said O is infallible, but most intelligent people currently trust the man to take the program where we want it to go. He has proven that. He put the right people in place to orchestrate the greatest offense in college football history against the toughest schedule ever.
So, the majority of fans are going to trust him over some retarded dudes on a message board.

So does LSU have to teach Scott Linehan how to run last years offense now?

this is about as bad a hire as O could have made, we went from young and hot to old and unemployed, he knows nothing about the concepts Brady set up OR recruiting. Id feel better if we hadnt hired anyone.

What's innovative? Well, it set almost every record in college football history. When you listen to former players and coaches saying they are running pro concepts that most other teams didn't do, I think they know what they are talking about. Sure hope they leave the offense intact from last year.

How could you possibly know this?

I'll keep an open mind on this one after my initial WTF reaction on hearing the news. I'd be much more concerned if his hiring was a year earlier and he was in charge of renovating the LSU offense.

They are paying him $800k per year
He’s the 2nd or 3rd highest paid assistant

O did something I never thought he would be able to do.
I’m down to ride whatever he decides. He has earned trust at this point.

I think that would be a very short sighted view of how quickly offenses evolve and how important game planning and innovation is to an offense.
Gus Malzahn for example was a next level innovative offense 5 years ago, now you watch auburn and they look like an ancient offense because he hasn’t adopted his scheme since.
It’s not like the green playbook from the water boy where you can just pick plays out and be successful

Kellen Moore is like WTF??

The biggest factor here will be how a guy like Linehan works with E.
It made sense that Brady was happy to work in unison with a more experienced coach, even if he brought the concepts.
I’m a little concerned that that type of chemistry will be much harder to duplicate with a guy that has the history that Linehan does.
Hopefully his ego reset as he was sitting around doing local radio last season, because I guess that’s what coaches do when they are unemployed

When O was 56 most people thought he was a buffoon and an embarrassment to LSU.
