Is Schmidt 2 years and done like Anderson with eligibility, or will he be here for 3 years?

If anything, he needs to be more like Cooper Williams on the mound.

Schmidt can’t get close to the strike zone being so amped up.

You can tell Schmidt has the delivery and arm to be really good. The mechanics just have to be cleaned up a little bit.

might be, but he needs master the mental part also. Because now he is mentally weak.

Schmidt isn’t a draft eligible sophomore

Curiel is though.

Pitchers make big jumps:

Exhibit A: Kade Anderson last year/this year

It’ll be nice to have someone solid on the bump longer than 1 year.

This board is wild. I know "breaking news." Many of the same sentiments that are being thrown out at Schmidt and Evan's are the same ones heard about Kade last year.

You're in the wrong place for that kind of thinking. People here decide the outcome of a season based on the first half inning of a baseball game.

Schmidt played something like 5 National Top 10 teams his senior year.

He's like Kade was his freshman year. They both had issues, Kade went to work in the lab now he's a top 10 pick. Let's see what Schmidt does in the off-season.

The biggest difference is that Anderson was coming off TJ surgery, and last year was tougher on him than Schmidt coming straight in from pitching in high school. I hope Schmidt makes the same leap that Anderson did, but my money is that Evans is our Friday night guy next year. Schmidt has everything he needs to be great. It just needs to come together.

For the record I think Schmidt makes a massive jump in the offseason and becomes a stud next year.

I just want a true 3 man punch with starters.

Evans
Transfer

No, pretty sure Curiel is the only draft eligible sophomore in the freshman class, at least out of the contributors.

Hmmm... I wonder where Kade Anderson played HS baseball?

You think they evaluate these guys on that still?

Schmidt was throwing in national showcases and national tournaments with the Knights Organization

They didn’t evaluate him based on his performance vs St. Amant

I never said LA baseball doesn’t have talent, but it’s nowhere near the number of talent in TX.

That’s why Jay recruits TX harder than LA.

This isn’t Paul Mainieri’s LSU anymore.

Schmidt has a grand total of 32IP.

He's very far from a finished product. Let the kid develop.
