I hate the revisionism of Mainieri’s tenure. The baseball program was consistently elite for the better part of a decade, bookended by two CWS Finals appearances with one title. He may have held on a bit too long, but not every coach can be Skip Bertman.

There were a lot of good players on LSU's rosters from 2011-2016 and LSU was losing regionals to Houston and Stony Brook or going 0-2 in Omaha.

Because, like the rest of the LSU fans, he actively and rightfully hated the seniors on that 07 team.
The lack of talent and just pure entitled assholes we were filling out the lineup with in 06 and 07 was awful.

Nah. You are just defending your friend. Nothing wrong with that. All I said is that Paul started his time here in the wrong way. I made it a point to say that he was better later in his career here. You just dug your heels in to defend him. All good.
Skip built this program. That comparison would be crazy. Even though I know very well that Skip definitely had an edge to him that not too many know about.
In the end, you and I probably agree on way more than we disagree.

Well he was a very successful coach that won a lot of games, that doesn’t mean people like him over the program, that’s just nonsense. Now I know people root for players. There are a lot of LSU/Bengals now Commanders fans. But no one was a Paul Manieri fan over LSU

Why take a dump on PM? He won a championship at LSU and played for another title, made it to Omaha a few other times, and ran a clean program. His time at LSU ran up and it was time to move on but he cleaned up Smoke’s mess and set the table for JJ.

Stony Brook was a Super and they had 8-9 guys that played on the cape. I know this is a shocker but other teams have good players too. Baseball is not football. If the players don’t hit in Omaha what exactly do you want the coach to do? A pitcher hurts his arm and needs UCL surgery in 2017, how is that coaching? We hosted 6 straight Supers from 12-18 Made 3 CWS, lost one in the finals. Trust me no one is more unhappy that we didn’t win than the coach.
