I am charge of my friends bachelor party and he decided he wanted to attend an SEC football game and settled on the LSU/Arkansas game because from TV, Death Valley looks like loads of fun to be a part of.

The issue is we are all liberal costal elite yankees who work in tech and attended small liberal arts schools where half the the professors are communists. So, we are not well versed in the way of big time football.

Would anyone be willing to host us at their tailgate? We are a group of about 10 guys in their late 30s and would gladly overpay for the chance to experience a real SEC tailgate.

Also, if you could provide advice on which are the best ticket value and easiest way to get to and from NOLA to Baton Rouge with a large group it would be greatly appreciated.

GEAUX Tigers.

“costal elite” is effectively an oxymoron.

Advice: don’t pay to tailgate! If your are Nice and cool then most people will be very warm and welcoming to their party! That way you can try many different stuff! Also be cool. Don’t talk about “liberal arts college” or being “liberal coastal elite”. No one cares. If you go talking like that you will not have a good time. Stay away from politics. No one wants to talk about politics on game day.
But so ask to learn about LSU culture and you will be welcomed with open arms!

Rent a car. I-10 is your best way to and from Nola. Also I think south endzone is the best value. But you will probably get different advice for that.

Letting anyone know you're visiting from another state and have never been to a game will get you pretty far. Many LSU fans are more than happy to let you try what they cooked up or a hit of drink.

Clearly some Tigers fans can't interpret tongue in cheek.

Yeah just supposed to be a joke about the liberal stuff. I know 99% of people don't care as long as are you are nice and down to have a good time.

We want to pay because we want to be sure that the tailgate has enough food and booz and to thank them for their hospitality. 10 additional guys drinking/eating for several hours is a big ask.

As for getting there, I don't think we plan on having anyone sober enough to drive to/from the game so we are looking for some other sort of transportation.

Even if you don't get anyone on here to lock in a tailgate, it shouldn't be hard to find someone to feed you and give you a beer. Just don't wear red and tell people yall are in from out of town and wanted to try some Louisiana food.

I'd stay away from the parade grounds though, that's mostly Frats which is a different experience than it sounds like yall are looking for. Everywhere else on campus should be more or less friendly.

The ARK game will most likely be at night. Ole Miss @ Bama is that day and no way CBS passes that game up.

For a good tailgate, look for the guy who wears overalls but no shirt, a straw hat, and is stirring a pot of gumbo with a paddle. You'll know you're in the right place.

If I were you, I'd grab lunch at Chimes or Walkons on Campus before tailgating. Then you walk around campus, hop from tailgate to tailgate getting a little drink/food here and there. Don't expect to set up shop with a group of 10 at a single tailgate (though you may find one big enough to accommodate you). Plan to visit a bunch of tailgates to get a variety.

There are some bus services that do round trips for gamedays. Here is one I found. https://www.batonrougeblitz.com/ Megabus does one too I believe.

I suggest riding around north Baton Rouge, chat with some fellow voters, and let them know your plans for the day. They are sure to give you the best scoop.
