quote:

23. Kansas City Chiefs - Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU

In any mocks I've done, this picked has shifted between wide receivers. So why does someone like Beckham get the nod? He's not a superstar athlete like Florida State's Kelvin Benjamin, but he has some of the best hands in the draft. But don't mistake that for Beckham being only a possession receiver. He can run a full route tree, get open in tight spaces and has some speed.

quote:

40. Minnesota Vikings - Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

Mettenberger and his giant arm are made for Norv Turner's vertical passing offense. Mettenberger's stock is down because he's currently rehabbing a torn ACL, but he's far more talented than Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder.

quote:

46. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU

Jerricho Cotchery and Emmanuel Sanders are both free agents, and the Steelers could save some money by letting both walk. Last year's third-round pick, Markus Wheaton, could fill one spot, and Landry the other. The LSU product fits the mold of recent Steelers receivers and has some big play capabilities.

quote:

75. St. Louis Rams - Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU

The Rams already have a good defense, but Ferguson could work his way into the defensive tackle rotation.

quote:

77. San Francisco 49ers (via Tennessee) - Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU

Johnson is an unconventional fit on a 3-4, but he should be able to find his way because of his quickness.

Few notes:
-I'm left scratching my head with JH33 not going in the first three rounds.
-Landry to the Steelers would be pretty awesome. I could see him being a pretty solid WR2 with Antonio Brown sticking around.
-I could see Johnson fitting the rotation in San Fran. Also, it would be cool to see him and Dorsey on the field at the same time.

Hill still comes with off the field issue concerns and RB's are devalued because good ones can be found in later rounds. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in second round and I wouldn't be surprised to see him slide to the 5th. I believe that teams see what the Saints and other teams have done to hurt themselves by taking RB's too early. Mark Ingram was a terrible 1st round pick.

I don't like Landry to the Steelers from the standpoint of the Steelers. You'd have Antonio Brown listed at 5'10" and then Landry - listed at 6'1". I've stood next to him and he's not 6'1".

That's two pretty small WR for your #1 and 2

The Steelers rarely have a big WR. Mike Wallace, Brown, Sanders, Holmes, etc. All those guys are around 6'0. And the Steelers have been successful with those type of WRs.

Odell isn't a superstar athlete? I don't know what film he is watching.

Running back is one of the lease valued positions via the draft. These mocks usually take that into account and go further with it. It only takes one team to fall in love with J Hill's film and take him in the top 3 rounds.

Translation - He's NFL ready.

Under Cam, a WR will be prepared for the next level.

His comments on Jarvis are pretty interesting. He does possess the physical play that the Steelers like in their WRs

A couple of things:

First, their description of OBJ sounds more like a description of Landry. I wonder if they got them mixed up.

Second, there are a ton of mock drafts out there projecting LSU guys all over the place.

Yeah I get what youre saying. But if those 6'0 guys can play and are better than the other guys you have on the team, you play them.
