Sometimes I wonder what this board would have been like if it existed in the 90s. Skip Bertman started the 1994 season 9-6 with losses to South Alabaa, Louisiana College, and Tulane. Over the course of that season, we also lost additional games to USL (twice), Tulane, Nicholls St., and McNeese. We ended up going 21-6 in the SEC, sweeping through the SECT and hosted/swept a regional, making it to Omaha.
I can only imagine what some people would have said about Skip that year coming off 2 national titles in the previous 3 seasons.

It would be more of the same that it is now. I gets said a lot, but we really do have too many baseball and even basketball fans that have the football mentality with both sports. Hell, even football today isn't the same and losses don't hurt as much.

I was asking OP what “excuses” were being given by these “people who also defended Kelly”. Like what are the specific excuses that are being given for a bad stretch.
In reality the op is probably mad because people dismissed him or people he agreed with for making definitive declarations of the outcome of the season.

Kelly was an unlikable asshat with ZERO skins on the wall.
JJ has 2 titles in 3 years so he's earned some trust.
He outcoached himself setting up the 4 game weekends as he even admitted.
I have full faith & confidence that he will get us playing better.
Even if he doesn't get it going this year the man has won 2 titles and honestly doesn't need to do anything else to prove himself IMO.
