You must not have been around last year before the A&M game. This board was ready to run Aranda out of town. O was the guy who wanted to modernize the offense and gets no credit for that. Last year was incredible and Brady was his hire. The offense was humming to begin the year with Brennan and a lot of new faces. It's just bad luck we've had to rely on true freshmen after his injury in a year like 2020. He has earned the right to make it right next year.

Go take a long ride on a bike that has no seat.

I was here, and the few vocal morons with that stance got made fun of constantly.

This is revisionist history. We were situationally terrible to start the year, although we were making strides.

I think only a few vocal morons would say otherwise.

Total—Saban lost 4 games in 2004 after winning the NC in 2003. He lost less from that team as compared to what O lost from 2019. Also, we didn’t have three cupcake games this year like 2004. Saban almost lost the home opener to a bad Oregon St team that year. Their PK missed an xtra point and chip shot FG. We lose in regulation if he doesn’t screw up easy kicks.

Dangerous road to go down. O has had some lucky breaks as well, like all coaches do.

Stupidest thing I've heard all day! Saban may make a 1 game difference..THATS ALL! There's NO ONE that has had to deal with that much turnover in 1 season, EVER...30 players from last season have either went to the NFL or opted out...30! Thats more that a full starting roster..not even the great and mighty Saban (??) has had to deal with such adversity

Aren’t you the OP? You’re arguing against your own premise.

And last year was what?
Brady (w/ Burrow) and Aranda. All gone now.

Who knew we had that level of coach roaming our sidelines in 2020?

Miles averaged 10 games a season over 11 seasons with 2 SEC titles, 6 New Year 5 bowl appearances ( 2005 Peach, 2006 Sugar, 2007 NC, 2008 Peach, 2010 Cotton, 2011 NC ), 1 NC and countless top 10 finishes.
Miles stuck around for as long as he did because of these accomplishments. It was clear as day he wasn't going to get LSU back to these levels.
Maybe you're arguing the floor was higher under Miles? I sure as shite know there weren't any 2019 seasons in the guy. His title you apologists pimp saw him lose to Kentucky and Arkansas. The other title appearance gave us one of the most embarrassing games in program history.

LSU returning production rank:
127. LSU 42%(overall) 30% (128)(offense) 54% (92)(defense)
The only 3 below LSU were UTEP, Air Force and Utah.
That was in February before Shelvin, Vincent and Chase officially opted out. So LSU could actually be dead last in returning production. Replacing that much production with no spring and a shortened fall was critical.
New starters, new coaches and no spring made for a very bad mix. Now having to play a true FR QB with no spring reps makes it even worse. Now our best offensive weapon has opted out.
In a perfect scenario this season was going to be a challenge. MSU and Mizzou should have been wins. The D is still struggling, but the improvement is clear. With a spring I suspect the D would have been further along and we win those games. That being said, I won't be surprised if we lose the final 3 in an ugly way.
I'm still holding to 2021 being an exceptional season. More veterans, talent and stability with staff.

2011 happened you know? Saban was gifted a second chance, otherwise, that season would be talked about like last season.

I'll take getting embarrassed in a national championship over being the worst coach in Ole Miss history or losing to Troy and getting bent over by Mississippi State in a 3 game stretch, since we're reliving the past apparently .

If Saban was handed this LSU 2020 roster, he would easily go 6-1.
Maybe. He did lose to UAB 13-10 his 1st year here. Lost to Arkansas like 14-3. And I think an argument could be made that he inherited more talent from Dinardo’s ‘99 team than what Ed is having to roll with this year. Ol’ Nick lost to ULM his 1st season at Bama, too, though I have no idea of that team’s talent.

What we have is bad coaching boys! Nothing else.
The buck stops with the coaching, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near as close to being able to be determined as we fans would like to think. However, your logic is dog shite, and is one of the reasons Herbstreit went off earlier this week and why it spawned a 12+ page thread.
You start with a declarative hypothesis (which is already a logical contradiction) that we would have a better record with the greatest college football coach of all time. And end with “bad coaching. Nothing more.”
1) Nick Saban was not available to be LSU’s head football coach this season. No one chose Ed Orgeron over him.
2) Your logic suggests we either have the best coach or a bad coach. No nuance, no room for anything in between. Which
3) leads us to this bullshite era of you’re either the best, or you suck. You’re either the National Champion or your season was an abject failure. 12-2 and won the Rose Bowl? frick you, Oregon, you suck? 12-2 and won the Sugar Bowl? frick you too, Auburn. You’re shite and should fire your coach. Finished top 5 in the Heisman voting as a defensive end? frick you, Chase. You had no business even being in New York. Waste of a goddamn plane ticket.

Didn't get boatraced by a garbage state team and didn't lose to meh Mizzou
Les went 3-5 in the SEC, his OOC schedule was a joke, and he was boatraced by UGA, Florida, and Ole Miss, while completing blowing the Arkansas game. He beat the two teams that fished last in the SEC and 7-6 USC. He did everything he could to lose to Troy. With a 10 game SEC schedule like we have this year, Les would have been lucky to win 4 games in 2008.

If that team wasn't good enough to overcome playing Alabama twice and avoid a 21-0 beatdown when it counted most, then they don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as last year's team. And that beatdown was 100% on Miles

None of these teams are as bad as State or Mizzou this year, but you already knew that,
