I believe what Kiffin said about their conversation. Nick Saban still has very good memories of his time here- as do many of us.

In 2 years it will be the 25th anniversary of the 2003 National Title team. I would hope that he will return to Tiger Stadium with his players during the season and be welcomed back as he should be. That team was a launching pad for the program.

Not at all. Saban loves us, we had just stopped loving him.

We'll always wonder what could've been- and quite possible so will he....

But it's okay to appreciate what he did while he was here- and for his recent behind the scenes help with landing Lane.

I think it was very telling when he told Lane "you'll always regret it if you don't take the LSU job- it's the best job in college football" (paraphrasing)...That's a very strong statement from a man whose word arguably still carries more weight than anyone associated with college SPORTS.

Only Miles maniacs still have a weird Saban complex.

Dumb. Where would we be if he had not come here?

He took a promotion. And one that was a bigger challenge, not some lateral move. Who here turns down promotions?

And now he encourages other coaches to coach here. Saban is a legacy Tiger.

Can he [Saban] coach basketball?
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if he could.

Odd? Not in the least bit. Of course, while at bama he wasn't projecting that, but now he can.

He loved his time at LSU and has said so in many, many interviews.

He has stated in many, many interviews, his one biggest mistake was leaving LSU for Miami.

LSU job was not available when he left Miami for Bama.

I was big mad during his Bama tenure but his recent reverence and push for the Lane hire has certainly cooled off my anger. He's redeemed himself in my eyes, as well as in those of many.

The 25th anniversary of that 2003 NC is around the corner. Finally we'll be able to get the real celebration of it that has eluded us for so long.

I say it all the time, he cost LSU more championships than he won us.

I think this is a very interesting thread. In an interview he once said “do you have any idea how hard it is to keep them down?” referring to the SEC powers but I believe most referring to LSU. He did everything in his power to knock us down a peg, and that was especially true on the recruiting trail. a player that LSU wanted who signed with Alabama was a way for him to gain an edge. There’s much to discuss here, but in a word, yes I’m surprised he’s advocating for the one he aimed to hurt
