Except that exchange makes it clear that he wasn’t.

You think Stephen A Smith believes what he says? He’ll say anything that will generate a reaction.

Clark is the same way. He gets to push a narrative and act like a hero.

Ehh Stephen A didn’t respond at all except with a smug look like “I could tell them the truth, you know”

Aww man, let it go. He's passionate about LSU just like the rest of us. A lot of us were wrong.

and 2-what exactly did he say? I'm fully ready to stand corrected on this and that's fine, but this sounds like one of those classic tiger rant exaggerations that somehow get repeated enough to where people just accept it as fact, without doing the actual research.

He was on Moscona and was asked about the hire. He said the hire was good and BK would do well. But in his words, LSU was doing what we always do and that was to hire a "Middle-aged old white dude" and how LSU could have done something different like hire a young guy like Billy Napier. He never complained about BK's race as much as woodword wen big game hunting and not looking for a younger coach with a lot of upside. He liked Mel Tucker bc he was Ryan Clark's DB coach the year Tucker was at LSU. Clark also mentioned he'd have liked to have seen Aranda hired.

AFR on demand. Go to about 15:!5 mark.

Not saying that's YOU, just something that happens often on this site.

He was on Stephen A Smiths espn show…whatever it’s called. Said he didn’t like the hire, he’s qualified, just didn’t like it…”LSU did what it always does and hired an old white dude”. SAS asked who he wanted and he said Billy Napier and went on to talk about race relations. SAS then said, he understood the concern about race relations, but how would hiring Napier changed RCs gripe…to which RC had nothing. There’s a clip on YouTube and it was posted on TD at that time. I don’t doubt the RC fandom, but he was making an activist argument when there wasnt one to be had. It was odd and SA checked him on it.

1-I can separate Ryan Clark the LSU fan (and he is a big one, whether some may like it or not) from Ryan Clark the activist,

Why do you separate the 2 when Ryan Clark does not?

I get tired of Clark’s take that your opinion doesn’t matter if you didn’t play in college, or the nfl, or go to LSU.

As an LSU Alumni, I’m aware that most people don’t understand our culture, but I’m glad to have any and everyone support the Tigers.

It's this. I haven't heard every Clark regarding the Kelly hire, but I was listening to Mascona right after the hire and Clark was on. Yes, he said he was leaning Tucker and seemed disappointed even, but he did not in any way make a comment about Kelly being some old white guy, or anything of that nature. In fact he was complimentary of Kelly as a coach and optimistic about the job he would do. So in my opinion, yes, all this hooplah is exaggerated, as usual.

Edit to add: apparently he did reference hiring an older white guy. I didn't remember that. But still wasn't disrespectful or overtly racist about it.

Ryan Clark called CBK "just another white dude" when he was hired. Racist Ryan would have canceled anyone who addressed a black man as such.

Frick Ryan Clark.

LOL. How convenient.

Tweet Racist Ryan that Tucker or Freeman are just "some old black dudes" that are failing at their current jobs and see WTF Ryan and his merry band of idiots would say about it.

Another blatant double standard that just destroys programs when allowed to manifest itself. Ryan Clark needs to stay the frick away from this program and this team.
