Thurman Thomas made a career out of it.

The problem is Jims and Joes, not X’s and O’s.

Ole Miss lead the SEC in team rushing yards in 2020 and no one talks about it because of their passing game. Ohio State, Oklahoma and Bama all run the “spread” and still able to run the ball. Their personnel and schemes are just way better than LSU’s right now

that Briles offensive system is so damn good. I don’t understand why more teams haven’t tried to replicate it.

The spread helps teams with a weak offensive line be able to run the ball and protect the QB. It forces defenses to protect the whole field and to a point limits what they can do in disguising where the pressure is coming from. But that is how bad this line is. Even with all of this they still can’t run.

Oh……

So you are saying LSU running out of the spread has never worked, except for the time it did. I got it.

Max hasn't even had the opportunity to do this. I've seen almost zero rpo.

I've seen zero of him raising up and throwing a bubble if a cb is playing off.
I put that on peetz. These are Easy yards.

Max has played like shite but the oc is not helping him out.

If they can't get easy yards against mcneese... holy shite.

This is so dumb- The "power spread" is the go to offense in college football. throw in some RPO concepts and its damn near impossible to stop... so much so that it has changed the opinions on how we measure defensive success.

So you’d prefer we go back to the 3 yards and a cloud of dust toss dive offense of the Les Miles era? We’d be lucky to win 3 games with that offense in today’s game. The spread HELPS the run not hurt it.

Ok

It was just Clyde making plays doing things you can’t teach and defenses having to respect the RPO with Joe.

Oh, so it did work?

uh, spreading the defense out and making them respect the pass and defend the entire width of the field absolutely DOES help a team run, even with a weak OL.

4 branches of spread

pro style spread which we ran with brady with RPO and zone read concepts

power spread aka smashmouth spread CUM ran at OSU and malzahn ran a variant at his stops with scam newton and nick marshall based on the power read play.

air raid-mike leach

spread option-oregon

I have replicated it in NCAA 2014. We are dominant and have multiple 1000yd rushers every season.
