Wouldn’t that be a cut in pay?

I’m still not sure Sumrall takes this gig. He’s in a good situation.

If this happens I’m done with LSU lol I’m going to have to start using this too. It’s like the site motto now.

It’s just a cry for attention. They aren’t serious.

And we wonder why the players flit about ... they are just following those who lead

The adults are the problem

Getting out of NOLA should be a priority for anyone with kids

Looks like the USS Brian Kelly may be sinking. He’s had incredible turnover with his assistants. Not a good sign.

Saban and Kelly don't belong in the same sentence.

Kelly is a washed-up has-been who has never, and will never, win anything of significance.

Did you know Saban had a lot of staff turnover before he won anything?

Not if UNC is promising to turn up their NIL efforts. UNC is a damn good job with little pressure and it's in a beautiful part of the country.

This would be a mistake for Baker and Tulane IMO. Tulane can do better considering recent success than a guy who is rising than hiring DC with only 3 years experience. Baker is taking a huge gamble going to Tulane for his first HC job. If he does congrats can't blame his for taking a HC job, but this isn't the one he should but he is a alum.

Saban was an up-and-coming coach. Kelly is in his twilight years of coaching.

Some may expect this because he’s an alum, but it would be a reach on both sides. Tulame is one of around 5 G5 programs left that can still be seen as relevant stepping stones to a good P4 job. I love Baker as a DC, but you would think Tulane would aim for someone with more experience. He only has a few years as a DC, so it just seems a bit early.

Ii get the alum angle, but it’s not like Baker is going to stay there because of that if he has success. He’ll leave just like anyone else would.

Must have been a bad sign for Sabans future then. Bad sign is the phrase you used, right?

If Blake ends up at Tulane and he's a success there, Tulane won't want him to stay. Tulane is such a good job b/c they play their position. They are a great group of 5 program who has no problem being a stepping stone job for Power 4 jobs. Tulane left the SEC b/c they didn't want to go full bore into investing into athletics. Those principles are still at Tulane. They want to be great athletically on their own terms.

Would be dumb to leave for ~$300k IMO

It's about being a head coach not the 300k.

If they offered him 2.5 he would leave.

RUMOR: Blake Baker to Tulane?

If this comes about, then go get Fritz's DC and Houston ( I am aware that he just took a job with Texas Tech), Shiel Wood. Wood is a young guy who did a great job at Tulane with Fritz; Houston's defense also improved quite a bit this year under Wood. Out pay Tech for his services.
