Smith, BJ, Ricks, Emery, Dumervil(?), Ryan to Bama. Probably some other guys highly likely to transfer that still haven't cracked the lineup and probably should've like Webb.

The worst thing you can do is fire a coach, make it public, then have him be a lame duck the rest of the season. It does absolutely nothing for the program. Either fire him, or announce it when the season is over. This is some middling way that accomplishes nothing.

I agree 100% I just want the downvoters to counter why they disagree and how they can defend SW firing and retaining a HC (and staff that is probably gone also) to stay on and continue recruiting to a team they won't be with anymore...

Recruit: well who will be my HC and will you be my position coach
Recruiting coach: Idk maybe the new coach will keep me but LSU is the place you should be

Honestly, I’m so sick of watching this current team play with no effort. If they want to leave then leave. No one is begging any of them to stay. As others have said, the portal works both ways. Michigan State is a prime example.

After all the rumblings of last year not coming true, I don't believe any of this

Sorry, this is 100% on Woodward. There's no reason to fire your coach, then turn around and give them back their autonomy for another 6 weeks.

What would be different?

If a player is going to leave, Ed hanging around a few more weeks won't change anything.

Well, it's worse now because money is in the open with NIL and you have instant gratification transfer portal it allows schools to back channel tamper with the players and offer money+opportunity. LSU probably going to have a big purge on their roster unless they make a homerun hire and can convince some to stay. A lot are not going to be convinced though, imo.

Ricks almost left last year due to tampering. LSU better adjust to spending bigger money to keep players committed or staying on the roster.

Meh, if any players are more bought into 0 than the actual program or university itself, they can leave. We need to purge ourselves of 0's stink and toxic people that don't have the program's best interest at heart.

frick I can't stand that clown.

How do you know they were leaving?

Not knowing who their coach/position coach/offensive & defensive philosophy is a big deal to most kids. If he was fired after the last game and a new coach hired in a week the new coach would have a better opportunity to come in and keep the kids

This! If indeed the OP is correct then we're better off without them.

Couldn't agree with you more. The new Woodward hire should come in at ground zero and start from scratch with only players who want to be part of a drastic refreshing rebuild

I love all the O supporters turn their hatred to Woodward. It’s hilarious to watch

You fire him when the season ends dumbass. Give me one good reason SW did what he did?

Did it cost less to fire him midseason?
Help recruiting?
Help team morale?
Make the coaches who are probably more concerned with finding a new job coach better?

LSU will be back on top quickly. Anyone who leaves will be missing an excellent opportunity for greatness.

Woodward, need to get that coach in place asap.

Well what if the new coach's team is still in contention for the CFP? While a deal in principal could be in place behind the scenes, you certainly could not expect a public announcement under those circumstances.

My guess would be between 6-8 more especially with the new rule where schools can replace up to 7 transfers.

Goodwin, Sampah, Josh White, Toles, Dumervil & Kardell Thomas. Maybe Ricks? I have a weird feeling about him because their were a few rumors about him wanting to leave in the spring.

Something major must have happened last year because all the opt outs and players refusing to suit it up is more than just injuries
We will likely never know
But I guess his support of Trump really lost the entire team and who knows what former players like Ryan Clark and others were doing behind the scenes to undermine O
Also, the drug testing issues and compliance is not in line with what every other team in the country is doing or letting their players get away with
You had a former player Sahdiq Charles calling LSU out as well
At this point, blow it all up
If those players want out, they now have that opportunity
