m starting to see alot of comments and stories that include Rueben Randle "needing to be more consistent." or "needs to live up to expectations."
Am I the only one that doesn't agree with this?
People are fricking ignorant for saying this, im pretty negative and even I find this retarded.
Shepard gets a pass but Randle gets flack?

Ruben can be elite with his talent. But he has to start making those plays that nobody else can make.
He also has to have a decently accurate QB throwing him about 70 catchable balls a year. The deflection at Auburn was a catchable ball for a great athlete, which Randle certainly is. However, I've seen every game he's played in and there are not more than one or two other moments like that in two years. Many poorly thrown, uncatchable balls intended for him. With decent, not spectacular, QB play, Randle could easily be All SEC next season. He's that good.

+1. Very much agreed I've been wondering why he's been getting criticized.
I really haven't seen much criticism. If anyone is, they are just ignorant. It's certainly not his fault LSU hasn't had a legit QB in three years.

He is billed to be a superstar. Their were plays to be made last year that a superstar would have made and Ruben didn't make them. AJ Green makes them routinely.
Aaron Murray>Jordan Jefferson
I don't care whose holding the discussion. Arguing that is the height of idiocy.
Rueben Randle had to co-exist with a running game and a QB who had his # called on designed runs, as well as coexisting with a slot guy who had plays called for him, as well as a Senior starter in Toliver who was the #1 guy consistently.
He also had to find a way to make plays with a QB who couldn't ever check to him unless he was the initial read.
Please keep your day job, dude.

cant be serious Ryno....
comparing Randle to AJ Green, cmon now brah.
Hes billed to be a superstar according to LSU fans based on his Rivals rankings, not the national media and scouts like Green.

Aaron Murry 10X >>>> LSU's QB's. Randle is a beast when the ball is tossed his direction. He can't do much with a QB who takes off running instead of passing.

This isn't the first excerpt that I've seen saying something like this
It's simple. The writers don't actually watch all of the games nor do they analyze how team positions affect others. Most of these people have never even played football. They do their "analysis" by looking at stats...hence the reason they talk up Arkansas receivers.

Stafford too, Greens fresh year.

quote:i agree the route running was awful, for example 3rd and 6 3 wides running 30 yds down field.sitting in the stands i saw that happen a bunch of times.it seemed like our wide outs were never open and the route running did not help our qb,i think that will change this year.
Considering how awful the route-running was in 2009, I have my doubts as to whether or not Shepard is really messing up like people say he is. It's hard to tell who's at fault on any given play

I agree. Let's see what can happen with a new coordinator and a new or rejuvenated QB.
Posted on 3/10/11 at 3:48 pm to RogerTheShrubber
He has not had the impact many expected, however that does not mean it is Reuben's fault.
Priority #1 for the new OC should be to find ways to get RR the ball more consistently in better parts of the field. Hopefully the days of WR screen after WR screen are over.

"some people's children"
clueless.
If we had a better QB, the WR's would have 'looked better'.
JJ missed some open guys, overthrew so many the INT after driving the length of the field versus Auburn seemed right in character.

I wouldn't pay attention to what non-LSU fans say about Randle. He did great last season considering what he had to work with and I'm predicting a big year in 2011.

Not just RR. Shep averages over 6 ypc every time he touches the ball, and the last coordinator couldn't figure out how to get the ball to him.
Randle has elite talent, I think most of us can see that. The angst for most LSU fans has been the inability to put the ball in these very talented players hands and keeping it in the hands of QB's who are not getting the job done.
Posted on 3/10/11 at 3:54 pm to TigerPanzer
very true. WR's only look as good as the QB makes them look imo. Put Andre Johnson with our current QB throwing him the ball, and he's not going to look all that great either.

! I know that's a bold prediction but he is farther along at his age than Dwayne bowe or Josh reed
I don't even think Josh Reed was a WR at that age.
If you want to compare early production, Clayton is your guy. Bowe progressed nicely, but struggled some early because of his vision problems that were corrected. Reed basically came on like gangbusters for that one season.
