re: Rueban Randle's decision to leave early

Why do people think that receiving numbers in college have that big of an impact on a WRs draftability? Do people really think a scout is like "that guy has all the physical tools (size, speed, hands), but if he just had a 1000 yard season, he would be a better prospect"? It won't matter. Rueban is making a good decision for himself. He has nothing more to gain physically, which is really the only reason to stay unless you are a QB.

RR is very selfish. He should have stayed for his senior year, then gone to grad school and played on my flag football team before leaving for the NFL. I was not finished with him!!!

I think his mind was already made up before the MNC game. Probably solidified his decision though.

life is about risk and reward...ultimately his choice. we all support him and will follow his journey.

It's hard for most to be objective on this, and other, topics. The anti-Miles crowd will say its totally because of JJ and the NC game that RR is leaving. The pro-Miles will say he was going anyway. We simply don't know the truth. IMO, he was disappointed that he wasn't more involved but likely would have gone, win or lose- high stats or low stats. He simply saw an opportunity to begin making coin. Who can blame him?

He was telling people he was gonna leave early during the season. This NC game influencing his decision bs needs to stop. He had a great year, put up big numbers playing with below average qbs, why would he need to get stats with Mett to validate himself to the NFL? He's ready to get paid and has been for a while, stop the conspiracy theories.

I think it came down to this: If he thought he could greatly improve his draft status, he would have stayed. If that was the case, he clearly thought he couldnt, so he declared.
My guess is that he had no confidence LSU would change next year and throw it more, or throw it enough to make a difference.

bullshite...has nothing to do with his choice. the kid was going and he said it early in the process. any negativity coming from explayers is just an excuse for their own performance, or lack thereof. it is sad...it is human nature. the uncommon man assumes fault...the common man assigns blame. seaux it geauxs.

Didn't someone here say Mike Detellier was talking about RR training in nola and hitting 4.38?
Mike D was on AFR yesterday and said he timed RR running the 40 three times. I missed one of the times but the two I heard were 4.42 and 4.38. Mike D is insistent that RR is going in the first round and that he will blow up at the combine.

No way he's a first rounder! Take off the LSU blinders.

We wasted his talent, just as we did Tolliver's.

I wonder if his decision would've been different if we had won the NC and he had contributed more in the game or the decision was leaving early no matter the outcome of Jan. 9th?
I think he looked at the continual poor coaching and decided that he didn't have a bit of confidence that the poor coaching would somehow improve next year.
He made a smart move, IMO.

That picture reminds me of a Bassett hound inonce had, if only he drooled and had floppy ears he could be on that snoop video when they turn into dogs. No disrespect to RR, he wouldve had 1000 yrds at OU, Stanford, oregon, osu, Arkansas, etc any school with a real passing qb

I saw on some sports talk that he was the number #5 wr coming out of college this year. Prolly a second round, unless the 40 times are correct, could move to 1st round. Has the size and hands the NFL teams covet. Good luck to him and all other Tigers that go pro. Thanks for the memories.

Yet he had 70 yards less than that at LSU. No NFL scout gives 2 shits whether RR had 900 or 1200 yards receiving.
People are acting like Rueben had 400 yards receiving this year. He had 920, which is good for one of the better seasons in LSU history. Coming back and catching for 1100 yards next year will minimally impact his draft status, if at all.

This is an age old arrangement:
Institutions, coaches and their resources use the student/athlete for their advancement and promotions to bring in millions of dollars in revenue every year
While talented athletes (notice I did not say student-athletes) use the institutions, coaches and their resources for their personal advancement and earn thousands if not millions of dollars over a short period of time.
It is like having mutual sex in the back seat of the moving automobile. When the vehicle stops, each gets out and both parties are satisfied and go their own way to prosper.

I think the only way he stayed was f JJ started the whole year and he ended up with another 400 yard year.
