quote:fail. Claiborne is a true junior. He had no choice but to come back this year. Before the year even started, he was being talked about as the top corner in this years draft. He had 5 int's last year, and 6 this year, so not a huge jump in production from that standpoint. Also, this years DB class isn't nearly as strong as last years. This dates back to last August for example. Every article you find has him first round or high second preseason
If this is the case why would anyone stay past their 3rd year? Take your chance in the pros if you have the measurables to impress at the combine. I think Morris Claiborne is a glaring example he could have came out last year and been a 2nd or 3rd round pick but now he's a top 5.
quote:Stats aren't the tell all, end all in pro scouting, just like its not in college scouting as well. Yes, stats does play a minor role in the process, but the main thing they are looking at are your raw athleticism, your technique, for wide receivers, your ability to run crisp clean routes, catching the ball away from your body(something Reuben struggles with for some reason. He has great hands, and if the ball is thrown away from his body, he'll snatch it out the air, but if its thrown near it, he'll jump when he doesn't have to and catch it with his body), ability to use and control your body, and blocking ability. Stats aren't the main deciding factor when it comes to scouting and recruiting on any level.
I think it's you who does not understand the scouting process.

Mo Claiborne was a 1st round pick last year. He probably moved up about 15-20 spots this year. He also could have torn a knee while in college this year. 3rd round pick last year? Seriously?
Regardless, RR will be the 3-5 WR picked this year, and would likely be the 3-5 WR picked next year. Moving from the 2nd round from the 3rd round is not worth coming back for, IMO. I still think RR is gone by the end of the second round this year, and he isn't going to move up much simply because he has better numbers next year. If you can explain to me that he is going to get faster or improve his technique, I would be more inclined to agree that RR has something worth while to gain by coming back.

I was thinking he was a RSJR but it's doesn't matter. The point is there are kids like him and PP that are ready and have made their mark in college. Those are the type of players the NFL is looking for as JR's. RR has not had this type of impact these guys had. He could have used one more year to really moved up in the draft.
You say he could take the chance and get hurt but he is also loosing out on millions by not being drafted higher.

More than likely the difference may be a couple hundred thousand $$, at most. Not millions.
Also, CB is a position that has to be a lot more refined than WR. WR is drafted mostly on potential for creating mismatches.

Yeah but this college football you have to find a replacement. I wish him the best and I hope he becomes a HOF in the NFL.
