I love the people on here trying to defend this by breaking down an utterly stupid set of comments by the new President now followed by him making even more stupid comments.

Rousse is an idiot. He made a stupid decision without any thought and got blowback and is trying to cover for himself and his stupid decision by trying to play semantics.

Some fans are on here attacking the media for doing their job. It’s not their responsibility to hide stupid comments by the new president. It’s his job not to make them.

He decided to give Verge the job probably as part of a stupid plan to have everyone on “alignment” and with Landry’s support only to realize many LSU fans won’t support an incompetent POS in charge.

But hey, let’s try to cover up ineptitude by the new president who was hand picked by Landry because the media publishing his own words are meanies.

Reporter directly puts quotes from idiot President and it’s her fault.

So "outsiders" have brought all of this about? LSU appears to be its own worst enemy. Maybe others who wish the institution harm are orchestrating this. No way to know for sure, but from the outside it looks 100% self-inflicted. Rousse gives the appearance of a fool. Verge as AD is in WAY over his head. Someone has pointed out that LSU has been in the playoff exactly 1 year since its inception. O and BK were huge mistakes. Huge. Now Rousse looks to level up in mishandling these vital hires so far as athletics is concerned.

The same O that won a NC fielding the best team in CFB history was a huge mistake?

You need to take a break.

why would you add more cloudiness to the situation by saying I'm removing the interim title?

The scary reality may be that he didn't realize that it was making the situation more cloudy.

Not sure why the other guy’s thread got deleted… this is new from this morning… LINK

quote:

LSU is moving forward with Verge Ausberry as the school’s athletic director. “Verge Ausberry is THE athletic director at LSU. Period,” a source within the president’s office told LouisianaSports.net. “There is no intent or desire to play word games with this issue. Athletics needs a stable hand at the helm, and that is Verge Ausberry. Verge is fully empowered to find our next football coach and to run the athletic department.”

The source said there are no plans to conduct a search for a new athletic director once the football coach is hired.

Probably because it’s unnamed source in an athletic department which by its own website Verge is labeled as interim and has yet to issue an official statement.

The more I look at that season, the less convinced I am that Orgeron had much to do with what happened. Just my opinion. It seems you have taken a nice break from thinking.

He's now listed as the AD on the LSU's website. The first two lines from his bio page.

quote:

A former LSU football standout and in his 24th year of employment in the athletic department, Verge Ausberry serves as LSU’s Director of Athletics.

Ausberry was previously named the Interim Director of Athletics on Oct. 30, 2025.

Maybe this is a payoff for Ausberry keeping his mount shut. That makes as much sense to me as anything else. Compared to many other programs LSU is a perfect pig show. Football has accomplished precious little since the inception of the playoffs and stands to record a 500 record or maybe worse this year. How could any organization with good leadership be this unsuccessful?
