New footage BRPD just released that shows the lead up to the shots fired
Another angle... and if they're looking for the guy on the right that's red pants.

Seems like it was red pants.
Per that article BRPD thinks so too.

Actually I take that back. I just a clearer version of the video and it clearly wasnt the dude in the black pants and white shirt

It looked like the guy in the red pants was the shooter in that one video
I saw a video on twitter that was eventually removed of Sims fighting to help the guy who was beaten badly on the ground bleeding
I just don't understand, this world is fricked up

I think WAFB showed it live. I listened to it on the radio on 104.5 and they cut it off after about 10 minutes. I don't know how much we missed after they cut it off.
Wade made a comment that made it sound like a lot of other coaches from other sports were present.
They weren't talking at all about the circumstances surrounding the incident...just about the impact on the rest of the team and on LSU athletics in general.
The team met at 6:30 this morning for a scheduled workout and began the grieving process. Counselors were already available at practice.
It was hard to listen to it. I don't think I want to go back and see it. Wade was very emotional. It sounded like it was all he could do to keep himself composed.
And Alleva is a frequent whipping boy on this site, and deservedly so for a lot of it, but remember that he is a human being with human feelings, also. He sounded distraught. He said that he knew Wayde well and talked to him often. He said it was "the saddest day I have ever had in 40 years" working in athletics.
This is going to be very hard for a lot of people within athletics.
I think all coaches, regardless of sport, feel that when they take a kid into their program they are also taking on the responsibility of taking care of someone else's child. Sims was a BR native and had by all accounts a very loving and involved family so the responsibility may have been as pronounced as say taking in a kid from 1,500 miles away with no family here, but it is still there.
It's heart breaking, but I imagine Will, like Sims' family, will have many sleepless nights wonder what more he could have done to prevent this. For someone who is so detail oriented and always over-prepared this is probably something that shakes him to his core. The is NO way to prepare for something like this. Yet, he now has to somehow compartmentalize what I'm sure are feelings of complete failure to become an even greater rock for the kids on the team who still need him to be their leader.

Can someone please post the video? I’m sure it’s in this thread but I only have a few minutes and can’t search for it.
TIA

Looks like Wayde was trying to help the guy in camo that was already on the ground. As soon as that guy stood up the guy in the red pants and another guy started swinging at him again. Looks like Wayde was just trying to have his back.
This is absolutely gut-wrenching.

doesn't matter. there was a scuffle and he was shot. no sense in posting a video of a young man dying.

Feel so bad for his parents and his family. No parent should go through that and he was a only child. A lot of prayers to the Sims family and the basketball program.

Thanks. That is so disturbing. I have to keep my thoughts to myself on issues such as this but I’ll pray for his family and I hope the guy who pulled the trigger rots in prison then in hell where he belongs.

What a depressing morning. This team had so much positive energy building, you just know Wayde and the others were going somewhere on to greatness.

Hopefully the guy that was initially jumped knows everyone involved and will tell the police
Back to top
