Ricky Jean-Francois Quotes
Who cares if it is bulletin board material. It shows the toughness of our team and their focus to go in there and win the game. I hate it when teams talk about how good the other team is, you know they don't really mean it. If you're a competitor, you want to beat the shite out of the other guy, not compliment him.

Now had one of Florida's defensive lineman said anything like that, you and the rest of the board would be screaming about what low class cheap shot artists they are and Urban should be fined for coaching that type of play.
You just don't make comments about taking out another player.

STFU Ricky do your talking on the field

He's a Defensive Lineman who said he'd like to get a clean shot on an opposing QB. What could possibly be controversial or significant about that? Do you really think there's ever been a Defensive Lineman who hasn't said that about every single game he's played? Not at this level.

Hum?? I am afraid it shows NO sportsmanship at all.
What about it suggests anything remotely resembling a lack of sportsmanship? He said he and the rest of the D-line would like to get a clean hit on Tebow, and would hit him as hard as they can. They also said that Tebow makes it hard to get a good hit on him because of his toughness and his heart. How do you people get "trash talk" or "no sportsmanship" out of comments like that?

Hit him as hard as we can, yes. Try to injure him? No.
Why? He never said anything about taking a cheap shot or a dirty shot. Every defensive player I've ever seen has said this about every offensive player he's ever been asked about. Can you think of any defensive player that was ever asked about hitting an opposing QB and said, "gee, I hope we don't hit him too hard and hurt him."

This is just absurd. And if the Gators are in enough of a malaise about this game for a comment like that to even enter their consciousness, then we would be a lock to win this one by 4TDs+, easy.

Obviously, I do not think they are anywhere near this nonchalant about this game. I think they are plenty fired up thinking about trying to knock out our freshman QB and pound our non-Hester RB into the ground as payback for last year (boy are they in for a sad surprise!).

Now all of a sudden people will start talking about him like we did Chaz. I don't want that. I don't even want the implication of that.
There is no implication of that except in you people who are accusing him of a dirty hit he hasn't made or even suggested.

quote:

In my opinion, he crossed a line in some of the things he said.
What line? Hitting the QB hard if you get the chance? He never said anything about a late hit, dirty play, cheap shot or anything else. Why are you people no comparing him to Chaz Ramsey and insisting that he's planning on chopblocking Tebow or something?

Somebody asked him about hitting Tebow. He said he'd love to hit him and if he gets a clean shot will try to hit him as hard as he can and take him out. He even specifically described his intentions as a "CLEAN HIT" at least twice. Where in any of this is even a hint of a suggestion of anything improper? Do you all really believe that only a cheap shot or dirty hit can take a player out of a game?

If they were saying this about Lee, the rant would be in an uproar.
If you can show me the rant ever getting "in an uproar" over an opposing D-lineman saying he'd like to get a clean hit on our QB and hit him as hard as he can, specifically using the words "clean hit", then you might have a point. In the several years I've been on the rant, I've never seen anything like that.

Maybe some of y'all just don't grasp the meaning of "clean hit," or maybe y'all just don't think defensive players usually try to hit opposing QBs as hard as they can. But that's not really news, and it's nowhere near "trash talk."

Now it's on the ESPN crawl at the bottom of the screen. I guarantee you that the short quote ("If we get a good shot on him, we'll do our best to take him out of the game") is behind Urban on the chalkboard everytime he addresses his team.

I don't think it was meant in a hurtful way, but I hate giving UF's players any more reason to be amped up.

It isn't good to hear a guy talk about trying to hurt someone.

It is seen as good when a player has a nasty streak.

It might not be the best thing to say but... it's football. People ooh and ahh over a huge hit. When Miller of the Saints got laid out today the whole place was going nuts at the place I was at. People love the big hit but get offended when somebody says they want to lay one out. The players will decide things and RJF will do more with his play than his words.

'just keep it on the field' is the general consensus here.

Tough quote. It's alot easier to take out the knee of a lineman than bet on hitting the QB hard.

I like the swagger that these quotes represent, but is this a little over the top and considered "bulletin board" material?

This is what I think:

Nothing new here. I'll let most of you guys in on a little known secret...the players say a lot worse things on the field. THAT'S RIGHT. The players aren't saying "excuse me Mr. Tebow, can I help you up?" It's more like "sit your arse down Mr. Heisman."

I know it's shocking to some of us. Calm down. It will be OK. Percy Harvin will not suddenly become faster at the thought of this quote. Tim Tebow will not become the Hulk when he hears of this quote. Urban Meyer will not pull out his super-duper secret play that is garanteed to win games just because of something he heard RJF say on the internet.

The game will play out just the way it would have if RJF would not have supplied Florida with this "bulletin board material".

FWIW, I wouldn't want any of you pansies on my D-line in a SEC game. You want to be nice, then go play for Vandy. I'm sure they are very polite guys.

This is not flag football - the whole game revolves around big guys who try to physically block or stop each other. It would actually be hypocritical and pansy if the #1DT in our team were to say -
"I hope we have a pleasant non-hitting game and enjoy ourselves without having so much as a pinkie strain"

He is merely pumping himself up for the game and hey whatever works for him. There has been no evidence in previous years from any of our players leave alone RJF that suggests that we go out there with the intent of maiming players intentionally (with legal or illegal tactics).

Everyone here still enjoys talking about Lafell's hit in the MSU game last year. That was a good clean hit and folks certainly enjoyed it. Infact Chad Jones was hit by one particular opponent (arkansas I think) and he bounced back and we enjoyed that hit as well - even though it was on Chad Jones because it proved his resilience.

I agree with you. I just don't want any of our players to come across as disrespectful. I think we can win and win with class. Now what happens if Tebow really does get hurt by RJF? Even if it's a clean hit. Or if RJF gets a late hit penalty on him? Now all of a sudden people will start talking about him like we did Chaz. I don't want that. I don't even want the implication of that. In my opinion, he crossed a line in some of the things he said. Screw the bulletin board material part of it, I'm talking about the respect part of it. He showed Tebow respect with one comment, but then referred to taking him out and having him in their medical facility on Sunday. I don't like it

Well said.

Did RJF really say this? Where did he say this? is there an actual link and not just a link to a Florida Homer Column?
