He was pretty damn good last week against the Pats.

He looks quick as ever.

what exactly would have been his "proper" use before the 2nd injury? we had two 1,000 yd rushers his 1st couple yrs, and Keiland as well.

I would have used him as a receiver out of the backfield. They guy had some skills, just were never utilized. A deep backfield didn't help him, but he had potential.

He averaged 5 pyc at LSU and over 9 yards per reception. Not exactly slouch material. He only averaged 33 touches per season though.

Good talent, just never found his niche at LSU

Murphy was a smaller back than Les is used to playing. Murphy just wasn't a fit for the LSU offense. By now it should be obvious Miles favors big physical backs like Charles Scott, Ridley, and Jeremy Hill. I don't understand why smaller backs would even sign with LSU. A small back in a Les Miles offense is 205-210 and below. Miles likes them 225 plus with a physical running style.

i don't think he likes any particular syle of back. It's just that the bigger backs have been the better backs for us in recent years. If he had a great smaller back he would play.

Did Murphy get hurt or did he already lose the job?

I'm simply not a fan of the 5 back deep system. I guess I'm stuck in the 90's.

So under your system Murphy would have been utilized even less. Murphy was never close to being one of the two best college RBs while at LSU.

If they had a real bias against small RBs Holliday and Shep NEVER would have seen action in the backfield.

Oh, and explain how the RB with the slightest build (Blue) got the most action early in the season on a team full of talented bruisers?

Miles likes RBs that have good instincts at the line and who run tough. Shep and Holliday never shied away from contact in spite of their slight build. Blue is a favorite of the staff because hes tough for his size and he has good instincts.

It's funny how Ridley and Murphy are starting in the NFL, while Williams is bouncing from team to team and Scott is not even in the league.

Ridley was way better at LSU than Williams ever was, and i think as good as Scott was.

I am not surpised at all that he is having success in the NFL.

He has a great running style. I remember he used to keep his shoulders low enough it looked like he could drag his other arm on the ground.

One of my alltime favorite tigers

I'm happy to see Mr. Murphy get his chance in the NFL. He always gave his best effort in spite his injuries.

Even when he wasn't carrying the ball, Murphy was always impressive and aggressive with his downfield blocking. There was a string of 3-4 games where he was sprung JJ on several nice runs
