LSU/Tulane guy here, but I promise you this didn't happen. OCCASIONALLY I will get a second look when I say I graduated from Tulane in Lafayette, but most people aren't even slightly awed by the LSU part.

I cannot understand why so many LSU fans get so irate about what ULL calls itself. Why is it so important they not call themselves Louisiana? Why does it matter?
What gives them more of a right to be called "Univ of La" than does UL-Monroe? UL-M should start putting "LOUISIANA" on the front of their athletic team jerseys too just to tick off all the little "USL" darlings.
And it doesn't really matter what the official school name is. They'll always be the "University of Southwestern Louisiana."
