Tiger Stadium gets hyped for one game every year...this year it will A&M. It will have all the mystique and magic that have become synonymous with this great stadium. Every other game will be half empty by mid 3rd quarter, even if the game is far from doubt.
It sucks but it is what it is.

All Reveille does is bitch and complain. Predictable article that I won't read

So I we're playing a cupcake, and we leave bc we're bored, we can still call ourselves the beat fans in CFB?
where did I say anything about the best fans in college football

what exactly are you expecting the school newspaper to say in this situation?
They didnt have to say anything. Its just a piece that ruffles feathers and gets people talking about them. Like they always do

Now that is largely gone. The old Tiger Stadium only emerges under ideal conditions: a game with national championship implications against a top ten foe at night with impeccable weather. Outside of those optimal circumstances, Tiger Stadium has become another run of the mill stadium for curious sports tourists and cocktail party dilettantes. Hell, we couldn't fill the stadium for three quarters when a top-ten ranked Tiger squad was facing an undefeated Wester Division rival.
Well said. I never thought I'd see the day, but here we are. The fanbase is being overtaken by a bunch of purple clad tailgating fans who have a passing interest in the sport of football. They know how to drink and cook, hate Alabama and complain about a coach with an .800 winning percentage. It's like the Twilight Zone. Pretty soon half of them will start leaving after the first touchdown.

That's what the article is about...

We all know MSU isnt a legit contender in the west just like a 3-0 Auburn after not winning a single SEC game last year
I don't give a shite if MSU had lost 30 straight games before our game last year. People made the choice to come to the game and basically fill the stadium. Those same people then decided to leave en masse in the 3rd quarter of a competitive game. There was no guarantee LSU would win. We weren't up 35 on a directional school. To me that's full proof that a large segment of the stands just doesn't care about the actual game on the field or the outcome. If you did, how could you just get up and walk away while it's still in doubt?

Meh, day game. Doesn't count

Who cares? It sounds like you have enough super fan stamina to account for the "corporate types" who leave.

From what I understand, the corporate types hardly show up.

Does home field advantage not exist anymore? Can the crowd not help affect the outcome of the game? If only 60,000 were to show up in Athens on Saturday, would you say LSU would have a better chance than if 90,000 showed up and stayed all day?

Anyone who complains about fans leaving early and says "It looked like shite on tv" needs to just STFU! If you weren't even at the game then you have no right to complain about the fans who actually showed up. YOU WEREN'T THERE! If you want Death Valley to live up to it's rep then get your lazy arse out there and contribute. Otherwise, keep quiet.
I usually can't stand when people leave early but I can definitely understand why they did for this game. Some of you people need to calm down and stop bitching so much. I thought it was a great crowd considering that the weather forecast basically guaranteed rain and half of the parking lots were closed.
For the people that don't understand why anyone would show up without rain gear or only a cheap plastic poncho instead of "proper" rain gear like a "real fan" should, just shut up. A quality rain suit costs at least $120 and not everyone is going to spend that much for something that they might use once a year (or maybe twice at the most) and some years won't use it at all. Get off your high horse and quit telling everyone else how much better a fan you are.

I seriously doubt those missing 30,000 would have that much of an affect on the game

You can get a good poncho for like 20 bucks

I was actually embarrassed for y'all!

Really? Maybe not in Athens, but Tiger Stadium must be an absolute nightmare for a quarterback. Communication is almost nonexistent. Calling an audible is almost impossible.

I was actually more embarrassed for Auburn. We treated them like they were Richmond.

I can't even keep up with the different types of bad fans anymore. I know we have our TD super fans that go to every game and stay every second and know how to coach the team better than the coaches. They have a healthy knowledge of the legendary era of LSU football when magic happened and opponents shat themselves when walking into our stadium, yet our teams' records then were either OK, decent or absolutely shitty.
We have the corporate types who only tailgate and come to be seen and don't even know a football game is going on, yet they love to price true fans out of their seats.
We have fratstars who are just there to drink and bang some sloots at the bars they go to when they leave early.
Someone should really write a book or something.

I mean, if those 30,000 don't really care about the game, I doubt they are that loud, so what difference does it make if they are there or not?
60,000 screaming with 30,000 not screaming = 60,000 screaming with 30,000 vacant
