This is his first year starting, and he is asked to do everything for this offensive. Just imagine if he had an even average rungame. Just average. Throwing is 50 times a game is a receipt for disaster. He needs help.

He’s better than what he’s shown the past few games but now he’s just pressing and you can tell he is struggling with the mental aspect

Even pro quarterback can struggle if they are asked to do too much. Pro quarterbacks need help. My goodness man that just shows you don't know football.

Nuss has thrown 50 or more times in only TWO games. (1) 50 against Texas A&M, and (2) 51 against Ole MIss.

He is being asked to do too much and he isn't playing well. Both can be true. After Saturday's game, he will have thrown the 2nd most passes in a season in LSU history, only behind Burrow's 2019 year.

I agree with this,….generally. When you are chasing for a lead in games, the tendency is to throw it around to get yardage chunks. So that’s gonna happen.

What gets us to these points is the lack of a coherent run game attack.

IMO we should have a group of plays that are consecutive run plays. I mean complete drives. Maybe some 3 and outs early but these defenses have to start being kept honest.

Just asking - has he been asked to not fumble & throw to the opposition?

While he is being asked to do a lot due to no running game, guys are running routes and waiting on the ball. 2 open guys short and he will wait to push it 20 yards to a receiver that is tightly covered. Him not recognizing coverages and getting the ball out quickly is a huge part of the problem.

He should be under center, in a 3 step drop to get his timing down. Once the plant foot hits, boom, ball out. Would change the entire offense, at least on first and second down. Plus they’d give the RB a couple steps to get up to speed before running into the pile at the line.

Eh, my two cents. Still ain’t worth the iPhone they were typed on…

Stupid. We are asking him to play QB. That’s his fricking job.

I'll agree with you. His strengths need to be paired with a capable run game. I think we're plenty happy with him if we could lean on a run game to help us. But we're asking him to carry the entire offense with no run game. That exposes a lot more of his weaknesses.

Nuss does have a tendency to force things AND will make panic throws. That's 100% on him. That can't be denied. But I also believe the LSU offensively approach doesn't help him out very much. In the second half A&M came screaming up the middle and LSU's play calling had little answer. Alabama repeated the game plan. Nuss is not only being asked to make a lot of throws a game, he's being asked to make some incredibly difficult throws. For whatever reason Sloan is terrified to attack between the hashes with any consistency. Yes, Nuss has a good arm and quick release, but LONG sideline throws are tough to complete with any consistency. There were times last week where Alabama was playing well off WRs. A quick adjustment slant could have been an easy 5-6 yard gain. Yet LSU seems hell bent to either thrown long developing routes downfield or long intermediate routes outside of the hashes. Couple that with a non-existent running game, and a defense that cannot stop a running QB, and you are asking your QB to do a LOT of the heavy lifting.

He isn’t being asked to run the ball or protect it in any way, that’s for damn sure.

If you can somewhat decide your coverage you’ll get him.

Show blitz and then drop guys back. Tough a slot receiver before coming covering the flats.

Hes really not great at it.

also i feel like I dont see him calling out blitzes.

He spends an insane amount of time waiving guys in and out.

We’re slow and it puts our OL in their stance a long time to get flinchy

To be fair, that isn’t saying much considering prior to 2019 we were a 3 yards and a cloud of dust program.

Our receivers are good not great. We cannot stretch a defense… makes everything harder. The opposition can play two, deep, safeties and does not have to commit one to the run game

This is true.

Does it mean he is safe from taking criticism? Absolutely not.

Nuss' career stats mirror those of TJ Finley.

He makes bad decisions and is an average QB.
