I agree. For a coach, win a championship or no name on the court. The problem takes care of itself. When we build the new arena Kim Mulkey will have retired with 2 or 3 national titles and a much stronger claim than Dale Brown. Although Pete Maravich was a great player he has been honored enough by having the first building named after him. Name a big patio outside the new arena Pete Maravich Plaza.

Name the court after Mulkey and leave the name of the arena generic. If a men’s coach builds a dynasty then there’s your arena name.

My issue with Dale isn't wasted talent honestly. Many teams were stacked AF back then.

It's his continued presence/pressure after retirement on the program that I think has been very detrimental.

Dale gave us great relevancy in the CBB landscape and it was a damn fun ride for a while. I don't care he pissed off the NCAA or draconian sanctions or any Bobby Knight stuff. It's the shite after that really pisses me off. I'll die on this hill.

You know, I've probably posted more about Dale Brown than any other poster on here. He was the only coach I knew for the first 25 years of watching LSU hoops and it was a true Love/Hate and I know darn near everything there is to know about the man.

I do think and agree his presence in and around post coaching has caused some issues. I think he and his boys bullied and forced the CJJ hire and his reaction to the Gunter thing IMHO let the top off that one. He had a falling out with every coach after him save Johnny up until now.

I had other things that bothered me but he was the coach during some of the most special LSU moments of my youth and I'll always cherish those memories.

Dale was, and still is, an egomaniac who craves attention.

Problem is Shaq didn’t get past the round of 32 with LSU.
Thanks to Dale.

Pistol Pete court at Maravich Assembly Center would be fine.

You can always tell the age of the posters by seeing the kids consistently failing to grasp the importance of Dale Brown to LSU BB.

Dale Brown IS Tiger BB.

At least The Hat has a national championship and an appearance in the national championship game. Dale can't make that claim. If Dale Brown is the Gold Standard for LSU Basketball, the program is f'cked.

Correct! That’s all PR and political bullshite. In no way does Dale brown EVER deserve to have anything named after him. As a humanitarian outside of LSU, yeah, maybe….whatever. Regarding LSU basketball? N E V E R! That SOB wasted more talent than imaginable. him.
