It’s because the media could not fathom LSU not having a cartoon character as a head coach

No one could have taken LSU’s cluster and rebuilt from scratch.
Some forget, 306 days before we beat Alabama this past season. We had 39 scholarship players in a bowl game, with a WR playing QB.
That’s a cluster!

Not true at all. MAYBE half of all serious LSU football fans were sure that he was a good hire, at the time Kelly was hired.

I recall that it was LESS than half that were thrilled about getting Kelly.

the TD threads about it are probably still out there and able to be accessed.

We're never going to get a better "fit" than O. And he crashed and burned.

I mean, there was that best college football team ever that won the NC and all.
That happened.

had to laugh - not at you, but that it reminded me people must really think of us as "The Waterboy" movie school.

Actually, I was surprised that it was quite the opposite (at least on here) when he was hired. On this site (and we know this site has the most negative of Tiger fans ever mixed in with the sunshine pumpers), his hire got high praise. There were barely any downvotes at all. It was was like 90-10.

L.O.L. You might as well get a comment from the next door neighbor's elderly mother too. That's about the level of these clowns you quote.

I'm amazed at how regular fans who have a computer somehow end up on local sports shows as a 'Pelican' or 'Saints' experts. Any clown with a microphone can do one of these 'Locked On' podcasts. These people are glorified jock sniffers.

I remember ESPN saying Billy Napier was a better hire and a better fit at Florida and would be more successful sooner than Kelly at LSU. lolol

Yep, that's what everyone told me when I moved to BR way back. Built a multi-million dollar business and I spoke like a Yankee (they said). I truly loved the people in Louisiana once I relocated from Ohio. Even gave up my Ohio State Buckeyes for the LSU Tigers, and caught tons of grief from my Buckeye relatives.

Hard work always is the winning recipe.

I am happy with Kelly. I was happy with O. I was unhappy with Miles because I think he made great talent good.

That being said, Kelly has had one year. It was successful. I wish him luck this year, but time will tell.

That's the same fans that wanted jimbo or riley or herman. That's also the same fans that would take jimbo today.

Much of this was Northern hubris and elitism. They believe that all Southerners are ignorant and intolerant.

2 early to tell either way. 1 season is not enough to say whether he is or isn’t a great fit. Solid first season. Will have to revisit it in a couple of more years
He Literally went to the SEC championship game in his first year after taking over a team with less than 40 scholarship players.
