Not recently and it not close. But all time, you are correct. Here is the list of the top ten, which pretty much shows that the all time metric is fairly meaningless when evaluating right now.

1. Notre Dame – 495
2. USC – 479
3. Ohio State – 426
4. Penn State – 359
5. Nebraska – 346
6. Michigan – 346
7. Miami – 341
8. Oklahoma – 328
9. LSU – 325
10. Alabama – 319

My heart says Faulk, doe. LSU was pitiful. He was the recruit we HAD TO HAVE, and he pledged to play for LSU. He didn’t have to. He could have played at Notre Dame, or any other national powerhouse. He turned them all down to stay home and come to LSU, which was a putrid program, at the time. Then that lovable little bastard stayed FOUR YEARS and became an LSU legend!!!

His coming to LSU (along with LaFleur, and to a lesser degree, Richey) was the catalyst that turned us around.

If Kevin Faulk needed some blood, I’d gladly give him some of mine.

I'm not sure how you are defining "not close" or for that matter "recently" but in 2018 USC had 44 NFL players vs 51 for LSU.

And the point was USC has turned out more NFL players which is indisputable saying the all time metric is meaningless makes no sense given that was the point.

The SEC West from 95-98 was not the same as the SEC W today

That's a fair question, I was considering a > 10% difference as not close. USC still is a top program relative to NFL player output. I didn't mean to imply otherwise

That is definitely true, I said that. The are so far ahead that LSU in unlikely to catch them ever unless they quit playing football.

I specified the context for meaningless, though perhaps clumsily. The all time number has little relevance for the state or comparison of the current programs in college, that was the context I intended. Basically curious why the OP is even arguing about that.

Yards per touch in the NFL:

Faulk: 5.6
Bush: 5.2

Nah, Reggie was a better pro too. Had two 1000 yard seasons.

Bush played for fewer seasons, and his last two seasons were shite. He had some good years as the featured back at Miami and Detroit but let's not act like he consistently produced 1000-yard seasons. He had 2 in 11 years.

Absolutely. All of us know that Kevin Faulk was one of the most important commits and players for LSU. He helped turn us back into a destination program.
