Saban went 8-3 and won the SEC.
9-3 could also win the SEC.
9-3 could be a good record.
But It might not put you second in the West.

The record is the most important thing, but how we look, how the coaches adjust and how we strategize are also very important.

All that has to be considered when you evaluate a season.

Last year we finished 9-3, third in the West, and I wouldn't consider that a good year.

We looked bad, coaches were fighting, and we had a lot of snafus. It was not a good season.

Who do you think is running the program behind the scenes keeping these kids attitudes where they need to be? Who's got his hand in bringing in the talent? Who designs the practice schedules? Who comes up with the overall game plan and attack? The HC does all that and much more so if he wins he does indeed get the credit but if he loses he'll get the blame there too.
Yes yes all true.. All of this effort and work is for naught if those crooked SEC officials determine who ins and who loses nixing / cancelling out "O"'s efforts.

I agree. I think O would agree last season was a disappointment, otherwise he would not have fired his handpicked OC.

so now he has a new OC, a new passing game assistant, a new safties coach, a deep state shadow staff, a handpicked QB in grad transfer transfer free agency, a roster full of studs brought in by O such as Rashard Lawrence, Devin White, Greedy Williams, Ed Alexander, Stephen Sullivan, and depth (read, depth, maybe not necessarily talent) at QB, RB, WR, OL, TE, DL, LB and ST.

I think the time to win is now.

Holy crap. You really are going with this “defense.”

Love how the narrative changes.

First it was rebuilding.
Then it was a talent rich team with a transfer Qb and expectations were high.
Now it’s “woah pump the breaks” we have a tough schedule.

My expectations for 2019 will be higher than for 2018. I expect 9-3 in 2018, but 10 wins or more in 2019.

Good is winning every game except 2 and not getting owned in those losses. They have to be close losses. If we are playing in a NY6 bowl I’m happy and consider it a damn good year. Y’all gotta realize it’s hard as hell to coexist with Saban in your division

know Phil is historically very accurate in his outlooks, and he uses intricate, complex algorithms to come up with this prediction. Nevertheless it's ridiculous. Any reputable coach could win 10 games with this unit,

Well that’d be great if we had a reputable coach.

“Only part of the story”

Yes, the only part that matters after the dust settles.

I don’t think you can put an exact record on it. It’s more how the games are won and lost.

A 9-3 record where we are blown out by Bama, UGA, and Auburn isn’t good enough in my book.
correct!

I've been saying this for years - it's not about raw W-L totals. It's how we play, who we lose to, and HOW we lose - this gives a much better indication of how good or bad we really are.

9-3, with 1 point losses to Bama and UGA, and a fluky loss to Miami to open the year isn't as horrible as getting blown out by Bama, UGA, and Auburn.

Those two 9-3 records aren't the same.

“How we play”

If you want to find solace in that, knock yourself out. 9 wins is simply 9 wins and hasn’t been acceptable for LSU football since about 2001 no matter the coach. imo

10-2 or this season is a failure. If this were a Miles team, despite what some of the O Pumpers will say, we'd all be pissed if this team wasn't in the Playoff conversation. 10-2 should be the expectation. Anything less and this season is a failure. 8-4 and O shouldn't be allowed back on the plane home from A&M.

“We have a tough schedule”

We played a SOS ranked #4 in 2016. It’s was #5 in 2015. It was #6 in 2014.

I don’t recall all this concern over playing a tuff schedule or lower expectations due to our SOS. Go figure

But it will take 3 more years on top of the past 2 years to "Fix" it
