why do media pundits' opinions bother this board so much?

Who cares what David thinks, or anyone else?

Just keep winning and let the Playoff Committee decide. And no, the Committee isn't influenced by media talking heads.

Tough night for Reese last night.

He could not supress his fandom and it all just came out.

It’s driving him mad the idea. Someone needs to pull him aside and let him know that his fandom is wreaking and it’s completely unprofessional. The guy just sounds like a fricking idiot. Good thing the college football playoff committee could literally give two shits what he thinks.

UGA won. No doubting that. I’m saying if UT don’t have the self inflicted things happen, then it’s a different ball game. Maybe the outcome don’t change, but UT is in a position to win.

So humans have agendas. What a surprise. So do committee members. The selection process is a joke. Computers should do this and the final four determined after the bowl games.

How do you think the Computer calculates the final four????? The formula they use is determined by HUMANS.

My formula may be far different than yours, and weight the many factors far, far differently. And of course there are intangibles in particular games that should be considered: injuries, weather, etc.

Computers don't think for themselves (at least not quite yet). Any result spit out by a computer is directly derived from a formula created by a human.

Formulas are fine as a data point (and those formulas are complex so yes, a computer needs to do the math), but we shouldn't rely solely on a computer formula, because the formula isn't perfect.

In his scenario -- Against top 10 teams:

GA would be 1 and 1

TN would be 2 and 1.

LSU would be 3 and 1 and SEC champion; defeating the defending, undefeated National Champion and last year's runner up to win the West.

TCU and USC would have 0 wins of significance in this scenario. Ohio St or Michigan would have 1.

There are a lot of people on this board who feel only their opinion is correct.

If you personally know any gumps, you know that they are some of the most delusional humans in existence. They believe that the world revolves around them, and they believe that anything they think or say is factual and sacred

If the Tennessee team would have got struck by lightning, LSU would have won. See how those hypotheticals work?

Of course dimwit, but it is the same algo for ALL teams. If you do not understand maybe refrain from posting. The process would be transparent and much less susceptible to the vicissitudes of ratings. What a dope.

The playoff committee takes improvement into consideration. Just as they do major injuries to key players.

Their only objective is to pick the 4 best teams in the country. Not the best team in September.

Well, he has a valid point about us losing to Tennessee. The thing he seems unwilling to address is the fact if we do happen to win our next three games it should be obvious to anyone this is not the same LSU team which loss to Tennessee.

But I’m trying not to jump three or four games ahead. We have a lot of football to play and games to win before we have to worry about which bowl game we make it to.

He's right about the optics of everything. Who get's left out of the playoff if a 11-2 LSU makes the playoff.

UT held LSU to 55 yards rushing for entire game.

Yes, LSU had 28 carries for 2 ypc. UGA held UT to 94 yards rushing on 42 attempts for 2.2 ypc. So, UT has 14 more attempts and 0.2 ypc difference. Not much difference between those two performances on the ground.
UGA also held UT to 195 yards passing on 33 attempts for 5.9 yards per attempt, where LSU was able to pass for 300 yards at 6.7 yards per attempt on UT.

But UT had 21 1st downs and had the ball for 29 minutes.

So what? LSU had 24 first downs on UT with a TOP of 29:36. Again, not much of a difference there, right?

quote:

UT shot them selfs In the foot the entire game.

We fumbled the opening kickoff and gave up a huge punt return after that. LSU spotted UT 10 points off of special team mishaps in the first 5 minutes of the game. Not to mention, the best defensive player on our team on got 8 snaps against UT.

UT misses 3 TD’s to wide open WR’s.

JD missed wide open receivers all game against UT.
