Braswell was 3 for 9 and 1 was a defensive mistake by Mizzou. How is that coming around???
I understand platooning them, but Reeves should play as soon as a righty comes in from the bullpen.

He was batting under .200. He also walked twice, was hit by a pitch, and scored 4 runs. OBP in the.500 range.

And at least one of his hits was a bunt single. I would love to see the exit velocity of his hits this weekend because they were weak af.

Why would Reaves come in as soon as a RHP comes in if the team has the lead and Braswell is better defensively?

He got on base 6 times in 12 PA where he wasnt trying to SAC someone over and he did that successfully too when asked.

He was hitting sub .200 prior to the weekend, so this is a huge step in the right direction for him...and he hit .312 last year so they know he can hit.

Reaves is a significantly worse defensive player than Braswell. One of the worst on the entire team as far as infielders go (arguably the worst). ITs not as simple as benching braswell as soon as a righty is pitching up in his spot, because you have to consider things like if we're up by a few runs especially mid-late game, you want defense out there, and thats Braswell over Reaves every time.

Reaves will still start against righties I would imagine, but they will be quicker to pull him and Braswell out there once they flip over to a left hander rather the other way around and again that comes back to defense between the 2 of them. Understand Reaves played 2B for his JUCO previously and was so bad they moved him to the OF. Anyone who watches Reaves in practices/scrimmages or warmups prior to the game seeing him take ground balls sees a guy EXTREMELY limited defensively - think 2023 Tommy Tanks (again '23 tanks, NOT '24) but maybe even worse.

Because runs will be a premium this year. You can always go to Ryan in the 8/9th if you want a late game defensive replacement.

Braswell just seems to get it done when we enter SEC play and for that I go Braswell and if he faulters then give Reaves a go. Reaves can play other positions also.

I don't recall when Braswell started hitting at a much improved rate last season, probably just before mid-season, and he started hitting with authority. Having a poor glove at 3B in SEC play isn't a winning scenario. I believe Braswell is overthinking things and will improve significantly at the plate as more games progress.

The team has shown that they can score in many different ways with many different players.

I'd argue that minimizing defensive mistakes to help out the pitchers will be more important to this team than scoring runs when it comes specifically to usage of Braswell/Reaves. This lineup will score runs more times than not with Reaves or Braswell at 3B, but Braswell is the better defensive option.
