I have long said that the reason there are empty seats at half time is because the games, every game, is on a tv station somewhere. Even the bad, mismatched games find there way to a tv station. So people either don't go to the game, or leave by half time and watch it at their tailgating location.

Hanagriff was saying the same thing Saturday night.

Its not fair to compare attendance and fans leaving early to 20, 15, or even 10 years ago. Just about every single game is on some tv channel or some mobile site (watchespn, etc.). Also throw in the TV's now a days and youre not missing anything by not being there. 20 years ago you either went to the game or waited till the next morning to read about it in the paper and check all the other scores...

Those are all towns with nothing else to do within miles of the stadium.

A more fair assessment would be Nashville or Lexington.

Really come on their football teams are generally like we were in the 90s

Most people leaving the game aren't going downtown...they are going home

You attend one game a year and can make these broad statements....PLEASE.

quote:

LSU athletics is so corporatized

No different that any other big time program. How do you think we're able to pay these coaches and get the facilities? So, would you like the state to fund everything and have a 63,000 seat stadium and old run down practice and workout facilities. Yeah, that would help recruiting.

You act like this is new. Newsflash...it's not.

quote:

LSU TAF is making the right choices getting rid of GEN Richard who was a huge contributing factor to all the above problems

Yeah, cause raising money and improving facilities is a bad thing.

quote:

Until that absolutely inept AD we have leaves I don't foresee myself ever attending a game in the near future.

But I thought you attend at least one game a year. Oh well, you will be missed.

So what? Why do people get upset when LSU (and their $4 million a year coach) get blown out by inferior opponents and the fans leave?

I left before the half and will likely be giving away the rest of my season tickets. If I have to watch Les' Big10 offense coaching clinic, I'd prefer to do it in the comfort of my living room or a bar.

The early departure phenomena continues to mystify me. I live in VA and only get to attend a game once every several years. So for me every game would be special, maybe that's why I can't understand it. If you go to that much trouble and spend that much money, can't you devote a few hours of a week to sitting in one place and watching what you supposedly care about most? What else is there to do in BR that's so much more entertaining? But almost every game now TS empties out way too early, whether it's close or a blowout. And we're getting an embarrassing national reputation, making a mockery of the our much-ballyhooed Death Valley mystique. Instead of focusing on what's happening on the field, increasingly I notice it's a prominent part of news stories and commentators' observations about our games.

I left early because my back was killing me. Is that a good enough of a reason?

According to a lot of people in this thread you should have stuck it out to the point of disability even then you should have been carried out on a stretcher.

I left early

Not for traffic, music, comfort but I wasn't enjoying the game.
