I believe these discussions have been ongoing. It wouldn't surprise me if the Cease and Desist letter got leaked on purpose to give LSU some momentum against the Daniels camp. Just a negotiation ploy as both sides look for a compromise. I understand that Daniels is among the first generation of NIL players. I would expect to see others test the waters of litigation for further compensation beyond the original contracts

Nah LSU should quit using his image and name immediately. Remove all Daniels jerseys and posters from stores. Remove his name and image from all the books. Just have “QB #5” listed in the history books.

But if LSU had clearcut policies, this would never be an issue. LSU created this issue because we have an unwritten rule about not letting people use the jerseys of guys like Joe Burrow, Dylan Crews, and Jayden Daniels. The numbers should be retired or let others use them or define it in a way that says how long they are withheld. But LSU told Daniels that his number wouldn’t get used then they let someone use it.
