Great post.
But I have lost confidence in Coach Miles. I strongly suspect that my lack of confidence in him will be vindicated in the coming years. That's why I would relieve him of his duties now.

Great post! But keep in mind, the SEC is a bit overrated here in the Southeast. Over the past 10 years the Big 12 has been a higher ranked conference. Look at the facts. Currently the Pac 10 has 6 teams in the top 30. The Big 12 has 5 teams in the top 30. And THE SEC HAS 3 TEAMS IN THE TOP 30. If you want people to be pissed at your opinions, try pointing this truth out to them.
Look at conference bowl records and BCS titles. SEC is not overrated. I could give a crap what we are ranked. It's about who wins on the field.

Holy crap what a great great post. I've loved our success as much as anyone, but I also have enough perspective to know that all these idiots claiming that LSU is just SO MUCH MORE talented than EVERYONE else and that any monkey could coach this program to 2-3 losses a year and that we should win every game by 30 is just laughable.
Or at least it would be if it wasn't so detrimental to our players and staff when they can't live up to such unrealistic expectations.
Best wishes to your son and your whole family.

I strongly suspect a hurricane will come in the future. Guess I better evacuate now huh?

True and ironic considering St Nick lost a game by 29 to Georgia in his fifth season, that sadly wasn't even that close.

Then I suppose Kentucky and Arkansas should think they are better than LSU in 2007. Perhaps they should have been ranked number 1.

If you truly believe that these two issues are closely analogous, then, yes, you should evacuate immediately.

Va Tiger Fan,your post has made both sides of the Les Miles arguement think and speak with so much sensabilty. It's been fun reading every post.I truely enjoy reading the posters that still like to sound like total idiots, too. They can make you laugh your arse off.

your post is mostly just histrionics. we all knew most of that info already. the point is, where is the program headed? miles did good maintaining for 3 years, but now the slide has started.

based on comparing this year with last, the program is on a strong up-trend...

Very well articulated.

Hold on - you're going to call me out on an OVERTIME loss to Tennessee in 2005?
uhh...yea..
What happened with Katrina was no doubt a huge tragedy to this region, the coaches, players, and fans. That being said
Was it Katrina's fault that we blew a 24-0 halftime lead?
Was it Katrina's fault that we played a soft 10 yd cushion zone and allowed Clausen and co. to throw the inside slant all day long?
Was Katrina to blame for our head coach to call a timeout during a change of possesion?
Look, I fully understand first hand the devastation that the hurricane caused but at some point you have to stop making excuses for piss poor coaching.

Auburn 2006??? a 7-3 game
Yep. With the tools we had that year the only thing that kept us from winning that game was the uber-conservative play calling. We had the ability to win that game by a score or two regardless of the hit job by the refs.

UK 2007? A super hot Kentucky football team that was ranked highly at 5-1
Super hot? Give me a break. Everyone watching that game knew that they didnt have the horses to hang with us athletically and the only way to win that one was to handily out coach us.
Case and point. Why did we stop running Scott after he SHREDDED their defense in the first half?

Arkansas 07 - triple OT again.
We could have easily won that game if our defense was properly prepared. I give you that DMAC and Jones were certainly a force to be reckoned with but that loss falls on Pelini's shoulders
Im not an advocate of firing CLM this year by any means. I feel that he has earned one more year to right the ship. I hope im wrong about this but I Miles has proven time and again that he isnt a top tier coach. Poor game/ clock management, Lack of proper halftime adjustments, questionable personel calls, questionable play calling, malveto, etc.
I support the LSU tigers as much as anyone and its because of that support that I wish for them to have a coach that rarely makes bonehead calls and almost always puts them in the best position to win. I dont think Les is THAT guy.
Either way, we all want the tigers to do well and I think that is the main issue we all can agree on.

Yep. 2 losses to #1 and #2 teams in the country by a combined 19 points and a 3rd loss that should have been a win to a pre-season top-5 team that will be playing in a New Years Day bowl game.....and no players in trouble with the law, no cheating scandals, another top-5 recruiting class coming in. The Curley Hallman days will soon be upon us.

You are bout a year late with the slide thing.
Going from 3-5 in conference to 5-3 in conference is no slide I have ever heard bout. Going from being unranked to #14 with a shot at the top 10 with some good fortune is also no slide. If we get a New Year Day bowl, is that your idea of a slide as well?

Do you remember in Saban's fifth season getting the absolute hell beat out of us by Georgia 45-16 which included one of our players kneeling down on the one after one of Georgia's many kickoffs that day ? Or Oregon State missing THREE extra points so we can win by one ? Pulling one out of our arse against Ole Miss and Troy ?
Honestly, some of you are under some delusion that LSU was 64-0 under Saban and won every game 51-0.

those games were all part of the process...
