re: Reactions to Saban getting mad over Steele question?

Miles just isn't far off from Saban. Look at the 5 year Lsu comparison. Ok miles had talent already. Ok.. Consider this. Miles took OSU from nowhere to 2-2 vs a powerhouse who they hadn't beat n two decades and look at Saban at msu who also made them relevant but not world beaters. Miles can recruit period. Right there with Saban. This argument will validate itself if miles can win another natty or two which I think is real possible. 2011 they best us but shouldn't have gotten a 2nd chance tbh. Saban has a step but it's not a big one imo

To him, it's definitely a rivalry. He cant admit that to the fanbase though
Nah, it is not a rivalry. Saban knows if Bama loses it doesn't matter. That is not an attribute of a "rivalry". Rivalry games mean something.
That aside, yes, Saban was a prick like that at LSU too. He was not a fun person to deal with. Miles was (and is).

True. Petrino bombed the interview since his arrogance was suffocating. There was a reason why we said NO when NS asked for his old job back in 2006. And no, nobody at LSU regretted that decision. We'd whether win with class and CLM . Remember guys like AD's and folks in the Athletic complex would have to deal with a HC on a daily basis.
I read somewhere that when cns was doing that flirting crap with the dolphins and the lsu admin was probably exhausted on a yearly basis in dealing with this anyway - that when cns finally did decide to take the dolphins job that he was taken aback that lsu already had a few names that they were interested in.

That's why they call him Nick the prick
Posted on 10/28/15 at 8:05 am to BayouBlogger
My impression is that Nick is a miserable person to say nothing of his narcissism. I will give CLM credit for having a positive attitude which I think resonates with his players. I think that he and LF7 are on the same frequency.

Yeah, and not just shite like this. (Oh, and he was pissed when they asked about Steele - he blew it off like he was just tired of answering LSU questions, but he was specifically miffed about Steele - there's something there).
At the football office, NO ONE was allowed to speak to him, unless spoken to first by Saban - no one was even allowed to make eye contact, unless he was talking to them
This is correct.
The rest of your post is close too.

This is completely false
Which is weird, b/c the rest is fairly accurate

What I have read from Bertman is that Nick had told him before Thanksgiving that he was going to the Dolphins. Huizenga was offering him complete control of football operations, including general manager, and that's the best deal possible. If he had turned it down, he feared he would never get another offer. So, Bertman knew and couldn't tell anyone as Saban was going through the motions of the negotiations. However, he didn't tell the players until the trip to Orlando.
And, yes, he was a jerk to the media in Baton Rouge. I remember one specific parking lot press conference where he announce the removal of Damien James from the team for a drug test violation right before the 2002 Auburn game. It was the source of the infamous, "It's time to move on, a'right?" quote. He was truly pissed to be there.
In his press conference after winning the 2003 MNC, Saban's comment was that he was already thinking about how to win the next one. Contrast that to the "Yahooooo!" from Miles when he won the 2007 trophy. And, there is no way Saban would have appeared on a Bourbon St. balcony with the crystal football.

His intolerance of the media is somewhat understandable. It's very clear what agitates him is repeat questions about something he just addressed. Something he addressed and made certain to show he was displeased with addressing in the first place.
Then the reporters repeat that question, or dance to a very similar question in hopes of getting him to blow up on them. They want the soundbyte.

Watched it a couple of times & it struck me that the question didn't merit the response. NS seems to resent any suggestion that he is preparing for or even considering the LSU game until his "process" indicates that it is time.

lol, i heard this from somebody in the Dolphins organization too. Some low level employee made the mistake of telling him good morning and Saban walked right past without acknowledging him, then gets to his office, and tells his secretary to tell so and so to never talk to me in the mornings.

We can only guess he did but we had to google or Yahoo what they looked like. It was only him we saw every week. You couldn't get much info about them if I remember correctly.

He is a great coach with great athletes. We have an average coach with great athletes. CNS would probably have been successful in any field he entered. LSU can thank him for upgrading their program.
