Rarely do I read anything on Dandydon in the morning I hadn’t already read on TD...

It’s been a morning tradition for me for several years but it’s gotten to where everything that’s “being reported” was reported by TD posters the night before.

It's very hard to scoop all of tRant when you aren't a professional reporter or a deep insider
Posted on 5/16/18 at 6:16 am to radicalizedtigah
Maybe it’s good info for hundreds of thousands of people who don’t read the rant

I used to think Dandy Don had the serious scoop before I really started looking around on here. It's all a regurgitation of stuff that's posted here.
Posted on 5/16/18 at 6:27 am to radicalizedtigah
Maybe, maybe not. But see the thing is, at least on DD you don't have to deal with 1000 morons to get through to the good stuff.
Posted on 5/16/18 at 6:32 am to tgguy
Yep. That’s a good way to look at it. I guess I never really thought of most TD guys as morons but I appreciate your transparency.

It’s true that there is a lot of repetitive information but that’s true of any sports site. I don’t read Dandy Don for the latest or most original. I read it for a different perspective. He also provides pretty good recruiting information. And I don’t have to read a bunch of rantard nonsense on his blog unless you consider him to be a rantard.

This is why conventional news is dying to Twitter and the like.

I’ve read Dandy Don every single morning, without fail, since 2003 when I first heard about it, and also donate every year.
I stopped reading it without even realizing it a couple of months ago. Scott is clearly an apologist for O and the current staff, probably due to the “one of us” mentality that I didn’t even think was a real thing until I ran into several old school Cajun types over the holidays this year. Scott also has a clear personal attachment to guys that are absolute shills like Detellier and probably even Ponamsky that are keeping him from seeing the situation honestly or just not wanting to write negative things about his friends.
It’s extremely disappointing, because Scott is without question a great fan. But he isn’t being objective at all and I think he is failing the program by not being more realistic about the direction we are headed. He reaches a lot of people and is respected by members of the athletic department and board.
But his Pollyanna spin is just frustrating and annoying and his readers, and his father’s readers, deserve better imo.
I have checked in a few times recently, mostly for baseball info, and will again once football kicks off. But I will not read a single report during summer and fall camp because I don’t trust him to be objective.
If things go well this season, great. If not, and I find his reports to continue in the apologist tone they have been for the past 18 months, I will not donate during his fundraiser, and I know several others that are in the same boat.
Hopefully this won’t be the end of what he and Don made a huge and valuable part of the program for so many years.
Let the downvotes commence.

Possibly
But I think he would cover with someone positive coverage no matter who was the coach

I agree with the guy above. it use to be a website with good info and constructive criticism, but now its just a fanboy site that will never say anything negative about LSU or O
I tweeted at him last year because i went back and looked and for 7 years straight he has picked LSU in his weekly picks(he never responded).
im surprised he can type with his purple glasses as dark as they are

I also stopped reading DD awhile back when I figured out he was just a homer. No objectivity at all, just blind loyalty. I need more than that.

I don’t disagree.
The positivity of the site has always been a draw of it to me, as other in this thread have said. Don, and then Scott, usually address the negative comments out there, and follow up with the optimistic counterpoint.
Towards the end with Miles, he was definitely more pessimistic and defended him less, but he was rarely unfair to him.
But throughout the life of the site, with Saban and Miles, there was always a history of success and evidence of competency to rely on when looking at the hopeful side of things.
That is my biggest problem with O and his blind supporters. Argue all you want, but O DID NOT DESERVE A CLEAN SLATE when he became the coach of LSU.
He has proven in spectacular fashion in his previous job that he was very very bad at running a program.
So everyone claiming that O hasn’t done anything to deserve the criticism he gets (other than losing games he shouldn’t, getting blown out in historic fashion, failing to secure recruits, and making hires that he immediately butts heads with and has to fire), my argument is that he hasn’t done anything to prove that he isn’t the same coach that is in the record books as one of the worst in the history of the SEC.
So this be a good fan and support the team nonsense just that. It’s nonsense. If your daughter brought home a recovering meth head that was in jail for years but insisted he hadn’t been in trouble in a while and that he had really changed, I doubt most of you would welcome him to Friday dinner with open arms.
It’s the same concept. Orgeron is who he is. Nothing has changed and nothing will.
If I’m wrong and this team goes on a run and gets to 10-2 with a NY6 Bowl and makes Alabama best us with a last second TD the way they used to have to in Tiger Stadium, I will HAPPILY admit how wrong I’ve been and get a tattoo of the Rosy Finch Boyz logo on my forehead for all to see.
But until he PROVES otherwise, his history, all of it, is all we have to judge him on. The same way we always judged Saban on Miles on what we had seen in their careers to know what they are capable of and what to expect from their teams.
Scott needs to be honest about the guy that is charge of our program right now or he’s just doing his readers, and the program, a disservice.

TD is so poisonous, reactive, and “look at me” oriented, I find DD to be a nice balance. Reality is usually somewhere in the middle.
Posted on 5/16/18 at 7:25 am to dallastiger55
DD has always been an LSU pumper no matter who's the coach. I know some are mad that he doesn't share the hatred for O or Louisiana's Cajun culture that some on here obviously despise. O is finishing his 1st year as coach and won more SEC games than we have in several years. We do not know how good or bad O will be, TBD. O has done some good things and some questionable things that may turn out good or may turn out bad, only time will tell. When the time comes that O is not the man for the job you can bet DD will call him out. All I know is the X players that played for O and Miles seem to have more faith in O to get this thing rite & turned around, like J Adams and others that appeared on Mike & Mike and ESPN shows before draft. So if they were there and think we are better off now with O, WHY can't we at the least just give him a chance. And it is apparent that O will be on a short leash and won't be here long if doesn't produce quick. (DD knows also, that all this negativity will help nothing and what is said will be used against us in recruiting)

Scott is not trying to be objective. He makes no apologies for being a real fan. It’s his site and he has no obligations to be “objective “.
I will continue to start my day on DandyDon. Show me where I can get a concise summary of last night’s game and any recruiting updates on Tiger Droppings with one click, like Dandy Don provides.

This country is built off of difference of opinions. He has a different opinion then you. He shouldn't be called out because of that difference of opinion. And he is at the practices. So at least his opinion (right or wrong) was self developed from being personally there.

Scott is cool, a real tiger fan who I have much respect for. I been reading Dandy Don for several years also and it's one of my best LSU sports sites as a tiger fan. Geaux Tigers
