Looking more and more like you nailed it!

I don't know who is the best baseball coach in the SEC currently, but I know which one has been the most successful. That's pretty important in my book, but each to our own.

MAiNERi can't Asses talent nor develop it. Lsu has won because of really good players that have went to the pros without help from maineri. Lsu baseball is like lsu football. These kids want to come to lsu. And we get lucky that the really good ones want to come to lsu. All they see is a bigger platform to get noticed = $$$$$$

The draft killed out teams in the 2000s, and it did a couple years after we won the championship. What happens is you recruit really good players but they all sign big league contracts and you get left with nothing. When LSU got back on the map as far as the top programs in the country, top players now wanted to come, CPM had to adjust to our best guys getting drafted.

in college baseball you have to recruit based on talent and the potential for them to actually play for you. What can really hurt you (I think this is what happened to Smoke and 10 and 11 CPM) is when you get to much talent that you lose them all to the draft

And lsu gets lucky when the players, like bregman, don't go to the draft

Lol he's not #1. He does have one Natty, but he can thank Les for that. Without the players Les recruited to play football no way he wins the one he has

You seem to want to discount the fact that if LSU did not have elite programs in football AND baseball, that those 2-sport athletes may have never chosen to go to LSU.

I have a question for you. Do you think Les would have LSU in position to compete for NC's every year if the NFL was poaching his 4* and 5* recruits after they committed but before they made it to campus?

That's why you can't base maineris success of decisions of kids to enter or not enter the draft. ,wineries success was because of kids who DIDN'T go to the draft. What maineri had something to do with that too!

is this your only evidence?

Nola is pretty good.
Rhymes and Katz were also very good.
Did Raunado and coleman only come to LSU because of Luck
what about Gibbs
Older Nola
Mahtook

I could go on an on

you list one player that should have been drafted but didn't get drafted. I can list 10 off the top of my head that probably didn't come here because of luck.

So exactly what can you base a coaches success on? You've already said it's not wins, championships or recruiting. Some subjective criteria you have?

I don't but both their coaches are probably better than ours.

yes you can, part of Recuriting in college baseball is recruiting guys who could possibly come to LSU.

You probably have your long shots who may come if your lucky (which is everyone according to you)
you have the guys who have a good chance to come to you and also a good chance to go pro
and you have your guys who probably won't get drafted but could develop into someone really good.

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but what happened to smoke is that he focused to much on the first category and when all of those guys went pro he got stuck with guys who had no chance in the draft.

It's not. But lsu fans ranking lsu's coach as number 1 coach in the sec because his plahers may have been better is stupid.
