I ranked Wing high because of how big an impact he has on field position.

Beckham ahead of the Honey Badger? Wow. HB will probably be a heisman candidate again if he continues his special teams play and turnover production. That little dude is the heart of the team. His passion and swagger was contagious. And he was the only notable player last season. Claiborne was an AA but went mostly on noticed because no one threw his way much and ultimately because the HB stole the show.

1 Mathieu-he's the best player, not the best talent. No real argument on either.
2 Reid-his impact will be much more recognized this year without Taylor around
3 Faulk-he was outstanding as a 1st year starter and will continue to get better
4 Montgomery-part of this is his talent but when he's on he might be #1
5 Mingo-beast that will be even better this year
6 Beckham-has every tool to be great including smarts
7 Lonergan-the quiet assassin. His impact is much greater than what is seen.
8 Logan-probably should be higher. At times was our best DL last year
9 Simon-again a lot of this is his talent but I think he's played very well when on the field
10 Wing-with our style of play his skillset is much more important then a normal punter would be. It can be argued reasonably that he is the most purely skilled, at his position, of any other player in the country. That doesn't mean he is the most talented player in the country. It just means that he is more skilled at his position than anyone else is at their's.

Let me remind you that JJ isn't our QB anymore. If we have another year without our QB being one of the 10 best people on our team, we are in some real trouble

I have to disregard any list that does not name hilliard by name.

I have to disagree with this statement. He had a great freshman year, a stellar soph year, he's on pace to break School records this year. He had a few moments last year where he got burned on assignments, was out of position, etc. if he improves in those areas, what's to say he's not even better this year?

I was going to post this thought exactly.

I keep seeing Johnson. Are y'all referring to Mickey ? If so he hasn't seen the field and shouldn't be in top 10

Mathieu has to be #1. We lose at least 3 games without him last yr. The nc was a perfect example of how we look when he's not a factor at all.

Only one poster has Mett in the top 10 of all players. That is some serious cynicality (new word).

Logan and Simon have a lot of potential to be all-star players. If Logan continues to play like he did at the end of the season I could see him being a 1st rd next year.

Potentially, Mett could be on the top of the list, but how do we use him. Either, he will be used like 2011 JL or 2007 MM.

Johnson ahead of Logan?

Landry ahead of all our RB's?

Those are big gaffes, but I like the rest of your list.

Agree about Logan and Simon. I've said for a while that Logan will be a 1st rounder when he leaves. As good as he was last year, he'll continue to get better. Same with Simon. His size/skillset combo is rare and could allow him to be a truly special cb.

I can't rationalize putting Mett on any top 10 list at this point. He hasn't played. We all think he's going to be good but none of us can definitively say he will be. Definitely not worthy of being top 10 right now. After or during the season when he's proven something, then we can reassess his ranking but as of now he doesn't belong. That would be the same as putting Rivers, Randall or Liggins in the top 10. Don't see anyone arguing for that.

I thought of putting one of the backs(Blue) but didn't because none of them will be given enough carries to be in the top 10. Are they good enough to be top 10, sure but which one, how many, why one over the other? All questions that we don't know the answers to. Hilliard is everyone's choice but I personally believe Blue and Ford are better talents than him, Ware more effective(when he's slim and quickfooted) and Hill the best pure package of the 6. Magee might actually be the best of them all when considering a complete skillset. Who do you put in the top 10?
