It really says something that most of our top players are linemen. Big key to success in the SEC.

Anthony "Freak" Johnson

same comment applies. Johnson is being listed because of high school accolades. His performance last year augers well, but not enough for top ten on this team.

After reading all of these opinions one thing struck me as impressive. We have a lot of guys who are great players and could challenge for all SEC. If Mett and our young LBs step up there won't be one position on the team that's not manned by an all SEC caliber potential player.

I think the biggest vulnerability for this team is QB. I'm not worried about the talent, just the self-discipline. Our chance at a national championship probably rests on Miles' ability to force Mett to play with discipline. If that's accomplished, we should roll!

I'm not quite sure what the standard is of "best", whether it be more talented or who is going to have the best season, etc.

It was tough to not homer in on some of my favorite players for this list.

Ware is not the best RB on the team.
Hilliard
Blue
Ford
Ware
Hill (not enough information)
McGee (not enough playing time)

You best put Mettsiah in the list. Dont be surprised if he is #1 on that list by year end.

I can't rationalize putting Mett on any top 10 list at this point.

The rationale is that if he is not on that list then the list is meaningless... If Mettsiah does not have a very good year then LSU does not even win the West.

We have so many proven star defenders coming back that putting Mett on the list right now is more of a projection than any other player on the list. Three DBs could be all-sec (Reid, Mathieu, Simon) and three DL as well (Mingo, Montgomery, Logan). That's six spots for defenders. Then we have Faulk. It's hard to put him in the top 10 just yet.

Anyone that doesn't have Wing on their list is downright stupid. That guy will not only be drafted but probably one of the first 5 LSU players to be taken and i wouldn't be surprised to see him in 2nd or 3rd round.

Unless we are talking about the best people on the team that can play multiple positions there is no excuse for not having the best punter in the country and probably best in recent memory on the list.

How fast do you type with Wings balls in your hand?

I agree that Wing gives us a major level of comfort when we need to punt the ball, but from what I am hearing from this board is that our offense will be so good that he may only see the field in clean up duty... Maybe we should play him in the slot...

My point is that we can win without exceptional punting, but not in other areas. He does however impact filed position in a major way. So I would rank him at 15 or 16...

Based on past seasons:
1. Mathieu
2. Montgomery
3. Reid
4. Faulk
5. Mingo
6. Simon
7. Logan
8. Wing
9. Hurst
10. OB jr

If based on potential, mett, freak, loston, landry and collins could all be listed

I read this thread as the Ten Best in 2012. Not a team effort or by unit required to win games. The best individual players on the field at their positions. It's pretty much a different version of what LSU players get drafted in first 5 rounds
