Several LSU references in Deepwater Horizon—Wahlberg’s sweatshirt at the end and a conversation between two workers about Saban and Miles.

No surprise here but LSU is mentioned or shown several times in True Detective season 1. The pitcher he visits played at LSU and there are LSU penants and what not at the house. Also when Marty is with his family he's watching an LSU basketball game on tv. I was pretty pleased with the attention to detail because even from the short glimpses of the tv you could tell it was 90s era footage based on the court layout.

LSU's brand was popping in the early 90's.

You think Shaq was to attribute for this??

TV movie ‘A Gathering of Old Men’, but it is set in LA in the 1970s. A character in the movie plays football for LSU. QB I think. (Not really random.)

I had seen that movie when it came out before I ever went to LSU or moved to Louisiana then I watched it probably like a year ago and there was just a background shot of the Geoscience building across from the Union and I just shot up "Holy shite that's LSU!". I get pretty excited when I see it pop up in stuff when I'm not expecting it

In my favorite scene in the movie that doesn't have Jessica Simpson being sexy in it, they're in the middle of a car chase in downtown Baton Rouge, hit a ramp, fly through the air, and then land by the convention center in New Orleans.

The Boar's Nest was filmed at the Moonlight Inn in Livingston Parish.

Many episodes of the TV show “Coach” used LSU game tape—esp games with purple jerseys and Sammy Martin.

In the TV version of Friday Night Lights, LSU is repeatedly named as the "dream school" for Ray "Voodoo" Tatum.

Actually, there was ZERO LSU gear in this movie. That wasn’t the name of the school Gavin Grey played for.

Are you drunk?

ETA: Wikipedia does say Louisiana University. However, they play the fricken first down cheer and the pregame salute in the movie and use the Tiger Band at the Louisiana State Capitol. It's LSU.

No. I was in the movie. It wasn’t LSU.

I know all about it. There was no “state” in the name of the school. You don’t hear “Louisiana state” nor “LSU” anywhere in the movie.

Not LSU, but I remember seeing banners with LU in the movie.
Don't know why they did that, except to avoid paying some $.

My dad still blames the Bama loss in 87 on the filming at halftime. We had momentum going in. Halftime took over 30 minutes. Bobby Humphrey took over in the 2nd half.

which is weird because they definitely use all the real names of NFL teams and clearly paid plenty of money for all the filming they did during LSU games. They also use Tulane's name iirc as well as the SEC, other colleges, the Sugar Bowl, etc.

Yeah, I never figured that one out, other than there never was a "Grey Ghost" at LSU so they made the school fictional as well.
