This is a terrible excuse for why some people are complaining about Moffit trying to become a leader. He's with the team every day and in the dug out every game. He doesn't need to be on the field to be a voice.

Moffit is also our only pitcher who has a 0.00 ERA this season.

He's contributing bigly this year, IMO.

My question is why do you have to go 5 states away to get a 5’10 160lb 2nd baseman that bats around .200. Other inState teams are loaded with infielders from this state, and most are a hell of a lot better than what we got. Smith is probably the only infielder that would be a starter on some of the instate schools

If they somehow manage to book a Southwest flight that requires them to connect in Omaha, sure.

Exactly. Some of the best teams had leaders that weren’t stars. I have factual data for this statement . It does help squash the blame game that’s counter productive. Good job Moffitt for taking a step forward.

I will always hope for the best but what about this team this year has even made you honestly think that?

Are we still saying "it's just baseball" or "it's just a slump?"

To win a national championship, all you have to do is make a regional, then get hot the first 3 weeks of June.

I looked. Today is March 27.

LSU recruited a legacy, Drew Bianco, and Gavin Dugas, a Louisiana native, last year, both of whom were highly sought after recruits, neither of whom are "small." Brandt Broussard is from Baton Rouge. Chris Reid is from Baton Rouge. Beloso is from Lousiana. Josh Smith is from Louisiana. Excluding Bianco for obvious reasons, LSU has one infielder on the roster who isn't an in-state product. Yes, Hal Hughes is from Oklahoma. But he was also 1st team all-state, the starting SS in the Oklahoma all-star game, and the defensive player of the year in Oklahoma. Just because one infielder on the roster isn't from Louisiana doesn't mean we are ignoring in-state recruits. Hal Hughes also isn't a second baseman, so I'm not quite sure who exactly you're referring to. He's also an exceptional defensive player, which is why he was recruited. The players recruited for their bats simply haven't been producing for whatever reason, but they were all highly sought after guys.

Thank God! About time for sure.

Because we need a hitting coach! Imagine what AC can do for this team.

Players only meeting is useless in baseball. It's not like they could get more physical or come together or sell out on hustle plays. If you cant fricking score a run on McNeese, you can have a meeting every fricking day and it won't matter

It's debatable. Maybe some first year guys had their eyes opened at UGA recognizing how much mental effort, focus and resiliency might be required to be successful vs better SEC pitching. I made it through 7 innings last night and shut it off. Some of these guys seem to have a poor understanding of the strike zone and don't adapt to some of the shitey strikes the ump is calling. Overall hitting instruction is not getting it done, something has to change/improve. OTOH, I'm sure many of the mid-week games are significantly more important to the visitors and show up more focused compared to LSU, which to an extent is understandable, but not to the extent of what it looked like last night.

I’m starting to think coaching is the problem on this team.

The hiring of former players and not actual experienced coaches is playing a huge role in some of the problems.

We have a pitching staff full of bum arms, and this is not something new.

4 automatic outs in the infield.

This has been repeated a million times. The NCAA only permits two paid assistants. The vast majority of college baseball teams either have an experienced, dedicated hitting coach or pitching coach but not both.

nor is it anything new for any program in the country.

Smith and Reid are automatic outs? News to me, and that's 2 of the 4 infield positions.

The darkest hour is always just before the dawn. This "players only meeting" reminds me of the hijinx happening after O lost to Troy.

I don't disagree with this in principle but it's going to be hard replacing Cain with a hitting coach that also recruits. After all, he's been bringing in great talent. You could argue that we haven't been developing that talent but it's tough to fire the guy that brought in the #1 recruiting class in the country.

The guys are definitely in a slump. It's weird because we all know there are some really good hitters out there. Guys like Duplantis are just in a confidence rut. It's collective right now.

A good series this weekend can turn it.
