I felt it was a little bit of a back handed compliment, plus I hate USC fans.

That was pure poetry. That has to be an LSU alter on that board.

I think it's stupid as well and stolen from another team, however probably better to embrace it and laugh at it.

It is a sign of envy, besides who doesn't like a corndog. Next National Championship we win in Football, we should replace the crystal ball with a big corndog.

Just laugh at it and move on, don't let things other people do get under your skin, your reaction is what they want to invalidate their joke. I think for the most part it actually is dead until someone mentions it and a ton of people get pissy about it.

I don't think you negative Nancyboys realize it was supposed to be a compliment. Pull the corndog out of your arse.

This. Corndogs are delicious and a national treasure.

Jeez you're a sensitive little girl.

And LOL at you saying USCw is a wannabe football program. LSU can't even hold USCw jock historically.

If you are of a certain age, you know the historical prominance of USC. Growing up with Keith Jackson calling games on ABC in the 70's, it was USC, ND, Bama, Michigan and Texas who loomed large on the national scene. It pains me to say this, but they are much more relevant than LSU historically.

I don't really have a problem with corn dogs or being called corn dogs, but it is so lame and disconnected from anything that even relates to our school, state, or culture. I have never seen a corn dog at a tailgate. I guess I just would prefer something better in the way of a taunt!

Auburn fans would disagree with you.

The Auburn Tiger mascot pushed a "corn dog cart" across the back of the LSU sideline at Auburn two years ago...even passed out a few. It was a friggin' riot

I like that it's complimentary of LSU but I find it tries way too hard to be clever and poetic. "Flitted about, Diablo-like"? "Indifference to corporeal disharmony"? Yeah, that's how I normally talk.

Didn't you read this part of the OP...?

Yeah, historically USC is ranked #7 in all-time win%. LSU is way back there at #12.

10 MNCs to 4 is pretty badass.

Did you read the post. No way in hell USCe fans are that intelligent and have that kind of vocabulary. They are have some of the most illiterate fans I've ever met.

That's because you don't get the reference. The corndog reference has NOTHING to do with food, or food served at an LSU tailgate. It has everything to do with the "carny" (read state fair or carnival) sound that some South Louisianians have when they talk. They sound like a carnival barker or one of those 'carny people'. Have you ever listened to Buddy Songy? He sounds just like that.

I know it's a stretch and a leap to get 'there from here' but that's what outside people think of La people and their behavior. It's hard to see when you live in the state, but for those of us outside the state, you guys don't really have a good reputation for much except for sports, good food and 'passing a good time'.

That's what makes it so delicious - the irony.

Louisiana has been known for generations for our cuisine, as has LSU tailgating. The whole corndog thing just adds a twist of irony to the smorgasbord.
