Any reports on him? He got a ton of PT against Purdue was wondering if he will be in on the regular IDL rotation.

Surprised to not hear the name L Welch. Is he hurt?

A high start rating doesn't guarantee a player will be great. Just like a low star rating doesn't guarantee he won't. But from a predicative standpoint the higher the star rating the more likely a guy will be a great player.
For every Harold Perkins and Will Campbell there’s a Chris Faulk and Chris Davenport
I stopped caring about stars after Mathieu
Zy Alexander is the clear #1 cb this year and he was a no star

Nice listening to intelligent sounding coaches instead of babbling nonsense.

And for every Chris Faulk and Chris Davenport there are a dozen players Willie Allen, Sci Martin, Jakori Savage, Tae Provens, Zach Sheffer, Dominic Livingston, Kevin Spears, Maquedius Bain, etc, etc. 3 star guys that never saw the field.
You remember the Mathieus and Justin Jeffersons and Jacob Hesters of history because they beat the odds as low ranked recruits. But years and years of data has shown that the more 4-5 star players you recruit, the more likely you are to be a great team. If "stars didn't matter" teams like Iowa, Ole Miss, Pitt, Missouri would be competing for NCs every season. They aren't. It's generally the same teams like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Michigan, Georgia, ALL teams that recruit a ton of blue chip players, that are in the mix.

Chris Faulk? What's that supposed to mean? He was a very good LT all of '11 and until his injury.

There are 20xs the amount of 3 stars as 5 stars so I’m not getting your argument here

You’re acting like lsu signs a bunch of 3 star players, which they don’t, so I’m not sure what’s your point in saying those teams don’t compete that does.
Lsu signs probably 75-80 percent 4 star guys. The posters here act like a class full of majority 4 stars, like this 2023 class, is a failure.
I’m making the point that it’s not.

Get off the crack pipe dude…Heard needs time in weight room and a redshirt to learn the position and especially technique…

You need depth at guard - no matter who ends up starting you need a good 3 man rotation at those spots
You can start a OT on the inside early, we’ve done this before. If we needed more help at OG, the staff wouldn’t have moved Fitz West over to the Defense side of the ball. This OL is light years better that this time last year. Not even close.

Your original comment was this...

Again, why posters need to stop star gazing. That shite doesn’t matter this dude has been brought up more times than Harris
My response was that being a 5 star recruit doesn't guarantee a player will be a great. Just like being a 3 star recruit doesn't guarantee a player will be bad. But making a blanket statement that stars don't matter is objectively incorrect on the whole. The teams that have more 4-5 star recruits on their rosters are generally the teams that have the most success as a result. So in that instance, getting those 4-5 star players ABSOLUTELY matters. If it didn't, you would have teams with starting line ups consisting largely of 3 star recruits competing for championships on a consistent basis. That's not really the case.
In an individual 1 v 1 comparison it may not matter that Stamps was a lower rated player than Harris. Stamps could be better. But across the entirety of college football more often than not 4-5 star players perform better than 3 star players.
So yes, while you will have always some 5 star players that fail to live up to their projection, a much higher percentage of them do live up to the hype compared to percentage of 3 star guys who out perform their projections.

Stamps was incredibly underrated in recruiting. You don't dominate an LSU camp against nationwide elite blue chips unless you can ball.
CBK also said they challenged him to put on some muscle weight and he hit the gym hard

Campbell and Jones not being 5 stars is one of the most hilarious recruiting frickups ever

Good notes on sage. He’s very up and down but it’s lookin like he’s put it together at the slot position he’s in store for a big year
Posted on 8/10/23 at 3:41 pm to sunnydaze
Heard is a big time talent but he’s got some really good players in front of him. I think when he said he was coming for the LT job this year some people thought it was a done deal. He still might end up winning the job but the odds say he will spend a year in the weight room and get some PT in blow outs if the coaches think he’s ready.
Posted on 8/10/23 at 3:43 pm to sunnydaze
Facts and I’m a victim of that myself with Harris lol. I’ve been wondering why we have rarely heard his name yet but it’s obvious young guys like Welch and stamps have been flashing more than him which is a great thing.

Chestnut might be the no.1 cb as well by all accounts he’s been sticky in coverage all camp the backend is shaping up better and better

Yeah, I think he put on 20 pounds of good weight. Sounds like with Johnson going down, he’s getting a lot more reps and will definitely have a role on the team, even early.
