Olines ego got checked - pass blocking was good, run blocking was awful, the Center will get better at recognizing blitz pickup, and Will will dial in

Nuss needs to understand he will have to pull the ball and run at some point. Otherwise, he looked good.

I like Williams but Emory is much better. Feed him.

Defense was light years better. I am not fond of Sages play but the coaches know more than me.

Joe Sloan/Kelly - simply WTF?! You took your hot hand and threw it away for forced run mentality in the second half. That lost the game. It’s on you.

I wouldn't say 22 is just outright better than 18...he was just the hot hand last night

18 is an absolute dog. We should have been finding him on more short passes. That's one of the arenas he thrives

I think the coaching just truly believed in the O-line and their ability and the fact that we owned the Time of Possession and that the run would be there (it wasn't)

It is what it is, and what it is is sucky

Agree on all points. Issues are fixable but frustrating. If the coaches get it together, the season could still go well.

I kept waiting for us to dominate on the ground with this so-called “best OL in the country” but it never happened. I just knew, up 17-13 that we were going on a turf-chewing mostly running, six minute drive to make it 24-13 and put the game away. Instead we get that first three and out.

But yes, pass-blocking was great. Nuss needs to learn to step up into those pockets and quit throwing off his back foot.

Emory had a chance to score a td when we were around the 30. The edge was open he just isnt fast enough

You can tell he lost a step with all the injuries. It's a shame because he was giving his best effort.

And credit to USC for good tackling. They consistently brought down our guys on the first try (at least it felt that way). While we saw several missed tackles from our D but the saving grace was we were swarming to the ball

bullshite, he's bigger and faster. He has got that gear of speed that 18 doesn't have. I like 18, but that missing gear is what initially made him a walk on, and made 22 the top back in America.

Feed 22, and 18 can get some backups

Yeah we don’t have a back with breakaway speed. Maybe it’s due to all the injuries over his career but I was a bit concerned the way he was caught from behind on that first long run. He needed to take that to the house.

I know 22 was good last nite but give me Jackson over 18 and 22 any day

This is just recency bias. We have seen 22 have flashes throughout his career but 18 has been the one who has been most consistent. 18 is the one I trust to be the chain mover

The reality is you need multiple backs to get it done.

But I think even Leonard fournette would have gotten stuffed behind the O-lines run blocking last night

Agree on all points. Will also add that Jackson needs more touches.

The Oline needs to run block better. Period.

Play calling was suspect in 2nd half, and at crunch time. We ran up the middle too much with our center getting his first start. I don't think we run behind the left side enough.

Give the USC D coordinator credit for attacking and confusing Chester at key times. There were a couple of times that a blitzer came thru untouched. Sloan/Kelly deserve some blame for those same plays by not expecting it. Chester needs to improve, and likely will, but the coaches share the responsibility for those plays.

keep throwing to move ball and let that open up run. nope we went les miles garbage and got stopped.

no screens, no jet sweeps, no posts, corners or streaks.
No RPO;s with WR's or TE's like denbrock did.

he did have a few outside tosses albeit not toss sweeps.

overall play calling was abysmal. mainly threw short outside hashes LES MILES style.

no deep threat.

all the football ignorant clowns that thought JD was the only reason for our #1 offense can suck it now

jokes on them

BUT BUT MUH DENBROCK

I appreciate Williams as much as the next guy. But he’s a JAG+ at best and that’s all he will ever be.

This is where having a QB who will not run hurts you. Defense ends were crashing down on the dive plan because they know Nuss was not going to keep it and run.

Mulligan is gone on first game. We are not getting in the playoff with 2 losses

I think if Nuss can use his legs 3 to 4 times a game that will have the defense hanging back a little longer. Highly disappointed last night but everything can be improved. Time will tell.
