there just isn't a "scene" up there like there is at lsu or ole miss. i don't remember seeing a bunch of college age people partying. they were probably all wandering around looking for each and being disappointed.

We went there as freshman at LSU in 2011 and enjoyed ourselves. Its a cool place right on the river.

ETA: We didn't hangout there all day or anything, but its worth it for lunch. I think there is a strip of bars heading into campus that we might try to checkout this time around.

All the bars were 21+ so we didn't really do anything after the game

And most people after the game tend to end up on the strip or market square.

Don’t go. Knoxville is the most boring city in the history of cities.

Is there anything similar to this that picks up closer to the Gatlinburg area?

Gonna be my first time attending a game in Knoxville as well. Got a cabin in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area Thur-Sat. Gonna be fun!

Found this for last season.
Shuttle routes PDF with cost/map/etc

If we got there about 2pm, would Calhouns have parking and could we stay parked there after eating and walking to the game?

I don't know what Bogie's/Fred's is. As far as before the games, we usually tailgate.

In general, there are a lot of people out in the Market Square area after the games. There are some good spots down Cumberland Ave and Gay St. Your best bet is to just walk that way after the game and you'll get a good feel of what's going on at the different bars as you walk by.

The strip and the old city are where the younger college crowd hung out when I lived up there.

Market Square was more of the older crowd.
