Making our first trip to Knoxville.

For those of you who have been before: what are the dos and don'ts? What time should we be on campus? Any must sees? parking advice, etc?

Thanks for any info.

I'm here for the replies.

From what I've seen, tailgating is little to none. The "tailgating" is done in parking garages.

I've also read that there is NO free parking anywhere on campus, and you are better off purchasing a parking pass.

Calhoun's on the River seems to be a popular tourist attraction/restaurant/hangout on Game Day, and from what I've researched it's about a 10 minute walk from Neyland.

I'm looking on Craigslist (Knoxville), and Stubhub.

A little different than normal SEC venues.
Everything is so close together and not a lot of room to tailgate unless you know someone with a boat to hangout with on the river.

We took a shuttle to and from game. I couldn't tell you where because we went with some Tenn fans and that's what they always do so we just tagged along.

If you want to just go to the game without tailgating etc,, KAT runs shuttles from various points throughout the city. Google will. Show routes and prices.

I personally am using it

Parking for $200?! I'd rather walk 10 miles.

A must see would be the $5.8 million habitat they have for a real Volunteer. PETA fights them hard every year so make sure you stop by.

Been there 3 or 4 times, one of my favorite SEC road trips. We always get there early and park at Calhouns on the river, tailgate with a number of fans from both teams. You can grab lunch at Calhouns and it's about a ten minute walk to the stadium.

Lots of hills to navigate. Take a shuttle from your hotel to the game, or find a hotel who offers one and get on. If you're going to drive on campus, get there early. Tailgating is difficult do to hilly terrain. Vol fans are a cordial bunch right now, they've been beaten down badly last 10 years.

I live in Maryville, about 30/45 mins from the stadium. Theres a bus that picks people up in the malls parking lot and takes them and brings people back from the game for $10. Id def recommend something like that compared to driving there. Thats what im doing.
