If LSU paid 2 million to a coach, when he could have been had for 1 million, would that 1 million be available for NIL purchases? Or is that a different pot of $?

Nil comes from the 10 hot dogs you buy at the game

Stop right there. Baker’s contract was for a 3 year average of 2 million per year. Year 1 - 1.9, Year 2 - 2.0, Year 3 - 2.1

The serious answer is no. The one rule the NCAA actually seems to want to enforce is making sure schools can’t pay players directly, and that any university affiliated monies cannot be moved over to NIL

That’s just terrible. He could not have been had for 1 mil and do you think LSU pays NIL to players?

No

Also, no

The only NIL funds that the school is officially a partner of is with Bayou Traditions.

LSU $ & TAF $ are totally separate from NIL and not allowed to be used for NIL.

How do people still not understand this?

speaking of that, while not true we can make it true...

... Woody and admin should be strong-arming Aramark into shelling out huge NIL deals

(I mean, this IS Louisiana politics we are talking about)

I posed a hypothetical. No reference to anyone's contract.

Why would you ask a question you did know the answer to? Is it like giving your personal opinion?

I personally don't follow enough to check on the NIL rules. Apparently you do, and I thank you for seriously answering my hypothetical question. Now I know. the other responses are from people that simply can't read or they just want to be smarta$$es, which is pretty prominent on the Rant.

You think coordinators at major programs only make $1 million per year? We have position coaches that make that or close to it.

ETA: LSU’s wide receiver coach makes $900,000 per year.

Missouri is paying him $1.9M, why do you think he would take a 50% pay cut to come here???

Are you dumb?

How dumb are you man. It was a hypothetical without any reference to anyone or anyone's contract. Good grief some of you guys are stupid.

It was a hypothetical. Do you know what the word hypothetical means? There was zero reference to anyone or any contract. Read first before making such a stupid response.

It wasn’t a hypothetical. You used the amount that our new DC was paid.
