That's telling and I'm not optimistic he'll get a lot better. IMO, I don't care what anyone says but you either have accuracy or you don't. A lot of people say it can be coached but it's rare. Hard to imagine he won't improve on that terrible stat though...wow.

He's got work to do, but look at some of the other QB's on the chart; some of which might be drafted next month. Some of those guys don't look so good either.

Crazy how Mettenburger completed exactly ZERO percent of passes beyond 35 yards.

I counted the yards, definately more than 35. ETA: IN THE AIR, NO YAC :doublebooboo:

Line of scrimmage is definitely at the 22....I'm sure they calculated yards based off of the line of scrimmage and not what yard line the ball was at when it leaves the quarterbacks hands. that was at most, a 27 yard pass if they counted the yards past the endzone line.

He caught that ball well more than halfway throught the end zone.

ETA: But they wouldn't count yards after the goal line so it is pretty irrelevant.

If they can count a 108 yard kickoff return, then I'm counting 38 yards on that throw in the air and screw the haterz.

Threw from the 30, caught at the -8, that's 38.

Why did yall not read the whole thing before the charts? This is only sampling from a few games for each QB where Bama and LSU where they actually had almost their full season so it is most accurate on those two. This is not a stats company and to find out these stats you would have to watch every pass which seems like the will be planning next year
.

Seems like an arbitrary stat

How so? It's a very specific stat showing deficiencies in LSUs vertical passing game close to our beyond midfield.

Could be from a few factors (def guard more against it the further you are from the goal line, etc), but it certainly isn't arbitrary at all.

And although its news to us, I bet you ZM, Les and every DC in the conference probably knew it already (maybe not the exact 0%, but that there were little to none).

True that

The over the shoulder catch by Boone. That had to be 30 yards, huh?

One of the passes mett seems to struggle with is the corner of the end zone fade pass.Wow I hope he develops the touch and timing for it.That pass is a late game winner and we could use it.Some mobility wouldn't hurt either.

Um. The article distances refer to where the WR was TARGETTED.

IE, if you hit the guy 1 yard behind the LOS and he went for a 80 yd TD, your "long" in the stats will be 80 yards BUT, on the chart, your "target" was in the behind the LOS category.

Florida game. that ball to OBJ just had to have gone more than 35 in the air.

LINK

From LOS to catch point it was 30-34 yards in the air. Anyways, I think the point is that Mett was terrible at completing deep passes. Anyone who watched the games last year already knew this.
