So there was at least one of +35 in those games bolded

The chart is for the distance passes were thrown. I don't know if the passes in those games were thrown 35+ yards.

Does the ball have to travel 35+ in the air or can you just throw it to OBJ and let him run?

Is it possible that when they that he hasnt completed passes over 35 yards, they literally mean throwing it 35 yards? With no yac figured into it? This would be more believable.

I distinctly remember OBJ catching a really long pass from Mett and then promptly fumbled it. Even though it was a fumble it would have been a completion for over 35 yards and it was all in the air.

As far as ZM goes, I don't think the article/charts say anything everyone here didn't already know.

Some of the other QBs on the other hand...

This writer would do well to check his facts here first.

Yeah, that's the game. That being said, I think I've found the issue here:

From article: For some teams -- the Alabamas and LSUs of the world -- we charted almost every game.

Just watched the clip from the game.

It was thrown from the 21. OBJ caught it at Florida's 45. So 34 yards.

(The blank spaces mean we charted fewer than three passes, if any, of that length for the given passer.)

This is from the article. There is a blank in completion percentage between 30-34 yards. Maybe the one in the Florida game to OBJ was between 30 and 34 and it was the only one all year. So it didn't show up on the chart..

I think the article is pointing to Mett not attempting very many "long" passes, and completing none of them.

On everything on Mett I saw before this year, deep throw accuracy wasn't exactly a huge concern. 0? Damn...

That's telling and I'm not optimistic he'll get a lot better. IMO, I don't care what anyone says but you either have accuracy or you don't. A lot of people say it can be coached but it's rare. Hard to imagine he won't improve on that terrible stat though...wow.

He's attempting them just, just isn't completing. His percentage of passes thrown over 40 yds was 3rd on the list of QBs.
