I am curious what everyone thinks will happen to the remaining QBs on the roster once a starter is named.

Those that follow more closely than me can answer this as well. Would it be too close to the beginning of the season for anyone to leave and get playing time elsewhere this season?

Presuming it wouldn’t be too late, my guesses are:

If Brennan starts, Daniels leaves, Nuss stays thinking he’s a Croc accident away from starting

Daniels starts, Brennan surely leaves. Nuss probably does as well

Nuss starts, Brennan surely leaves, Daniels 50:50

Daniels has already used his one free transfer and as of now at least he would have to sit out a year if he transferred again. Daniels isn’t going anywhere this year.

As I said, I knew there were folks more familiar with the logistics

.

Not 100% sure this is correct since he is a graduate student/transfer.

Daniels would have to sit a year if he left now so I doubt he leaves.

If the recommended rule change allowing multiple transfers with immediate eligibility (I think that is what I saw) takes place, he could wait out this season and enter the transfer portal in one of the windows after and still play in 2023.

There would be no benefit to him leaving to sit where he could not play as opposed to rolling the dice where he can if needed.

The deadline to enter the portal for this season was May 1st. Brennan made his choice when he did not transfer by the deadline, if he leaves his college career would be over, doubt he leaves.

Nussmeier is an enigma, I really have no idea.

Again, Brennan made his choice when he did not transfer by the deadline.

Daniels is better off staying here and rolling the dice. Amongst other things, injuries happen.

I don’t think there is a situation where any of the QBs leave TBH

I think Nuss is the only one we have to worry about transferring because of all the reasons mdomingue listed above. I also don't think any of them leave because they know what happened the past two years. We play in the SEC. Starter could go down any given Saturday and there's your shot. I think Kelly will preach that without everybody buying in we can't build a team and all of them stay. I doubt we have transfers anywhere else of note before the season starts.

Why do we have to do all of the soap opera stuff?

If either Daniels or Brennan is named the starter for Florida State, Nuss will inevitably hit the transfer portal so fast that it will literally make Brian Kelly's head spin, and then LSU will only have one redshirt freshman QB with zero experience on the roster going into the 2023 season.

No way can Brian Kelly take a chance of that happening unless he just doesn't care about roster management.

Not to mention that by all accounts, Nussmeier ran away with the QB competition in the 15 spring practices and in the spring game.

FYI...college football is NOT total free agency...yet.

Players can't just leave whenever they want and just start up somewhere else. It's not like, "Hey! It's August! I'm not starting? Well I'm off to another for September!"

Not yet.

Brennan is going to start and no one is going to leave because he’s a 12th year senior.

Actuality I thought it was not a good move by Kelly to talk Brennen to come back and stab Brannon in the back and bring in the non-SEC caliber QB from Zona.

Daniels: A QB who has played slightly above average, on a bad team, in a bad league. He is not our savior.

4, no change. I believe bk was honest with them and they all seem to want to earn the position. I wanted Brennan to head to Hammond and throw for 4500 yards and lead the lions to a FCS national title. He will be a good teammate wether he shares time or not.

You seem to put a ton of stock in Spring practice. What if the overall agreement is that Brennan or Daniels looked the best in the fall? How would that sway your opinion?

Daniels will have package situations regardless of him starting. The others won’t.

I don't think Daniels will start. But give the kid the benefit of the doubt and let's see how things play out before totally giving up on him.

Regardless, I see potential for him with situational packages to mix things up. His passing is questionable but he's electric in the open field.
