If LSU were to lose to Georgia, it is a guarantee voters would move LSU to #2 and jump Alabama to #1. You know it and I know it. The rationale would be that if you lose a game you have to drop no matter what, even if you beat the team jumping you head to head. How does that makes sense? Voters would say, "but Alabama lost to the best team in the nation in overtime and LSU lost to GA, therefore bama should be ahead of LSU". WTF?

Nothing about any of this makes any sense. The fact we have to earn the chance to play Bama is fricking retarded.

How can they be guaranteed to do it when you have no proof they will do it?

Stupid post.

He's guessing, just like everyone on this board does. And he's probably right.

Well said. That's the first time I heard put like that but it's so true. That's exactly what's happening here.

OU lost in 2003, they didn't drop. I know the formula is changed now but nothing is a foregone conclusion.

No one should be allowed to make a guarantee without backing it up somehow.

It is too easy to guarantee when there is nothing on the line, but if there is something to lose (like being denied a post for a while) then there may be more opinions and fewer guarantees.

Yes the voters are screwed in the head. That is why quantifiable data outranks them in the equation, or at least i hope it does. Sports writers have their heads so far up their asses it is pathetic. The worst being baseball writers, but i will stay on point. You ask 10 different sports writers who is the best and you will get 16 answers, most times. The coaches/ unpaid intern poll is just about as worthless, at least those people know more of what goes into a game and a team to have a "valuable" opinion

I think he's talking about the polls. I would assume we would still have a good chance to be atop the BCS, but I think there would be many pollsters jumping at the chance to put Bama at the top. They still talk about how they're better than us and outplayed us every chance they get on ESPN despite the results being irrefutable.

It doesn't.

1/3 Coaches, 1/3 Former coaches, media, administration, 1/3 computers.

Do you think Kentucky should have been ahead of LSU after beating us in 2007? They only had 1 loss at that time.

I agree with that logic, except if the two played head to head. Then it should go to the head to head matchup and that team should be ranked higher, if they are ranked right by each other.

The more we win the more we make the BCS look bad. At first it was if we lose to Arky we could still go to the SEC championship. Then it's if we lose in the SEC championship we can still play for a title. Now it's if we lose the Championship we will get a share of Title.

Thanks for the Clarification. sucks even more now. At least computers are always predictable, will always go with the numbers. to bad media/coaches pollers have to feel like they contributed/made a difference with their contrasting points of view.

Good thing that isn't what happened.

We are in. We don't have to earn a damn thing for the title game.

We are just taking a detour to earn ourselves a conference title...which despite the apparent prevailing attitude on this board...does mean something.
