re: Projecting LSU’s top 5 players in 2020

So as a skinny arse true freshman, 3 years ago, he wasn’t better than a 4 star recruit, 5th year senior transfer from a power 5 program?

Posted on 8/5/20 at 8:58 pm to TigerLunatik
He hasn’t been good enough to play through three seasons. They are choosing to highlight that one for some reason?
Look at the screen shot. He lost the 2018 battle to burrow as well. After they felt the need to actively pursue a transfer at his position.
Surely you can see the difference in career trajectory between him & a guy like Marshall

This isn’t a Marshall vs Brennan thread.
None of this glib drivel of yours has anything to do with the price of tea in China. If Marshall soars next year, it’ll be catching Brennan’s passes.

Brennan sat behind a fifth year senior that got drafted then behind the number 1 pick in the draft the next two years. That's not a reason to knock him IMO. This time last year a lot people had a lot of doubt about Burrow too. Marshall is very good, but if it's about projecting who will be the best 5, I don't see why it's some crazy thought that Brennan could be one of them. Especially if Orgeron is to be believed that the offense isn't changing and this will be his second season in the offense with Chase, Jefferson, McMath and Palmer.

It’s not a knock. It is a written history of what actually happened.
Putting him as the 4th best player on the team is everything you hope & wish for in your purple & gold underwear, but it is totally illogical based on his career up to this point compared to the other players you can choose from, & their development path.

It's not illogical at all. It's just not your opinion and you can't handle that.
What's illogical is knocking a kid because he couldn't beat out arguably the greatest collegiate qb of all time for the starting job at LSU.

Burrow wasn’t particularly great in 2018. In fact many people on TD thought & hoped Brennan would win that job that offseason.
THats not a knock. Those are facts

After Bama, Burrow closed out the 18 season with nearly 1200 yards, 10 TDS on 1 pick in just 4 games. Once he got comfortable, he was great. His 18 season was 4th all time at LSU in yards at the time.

But again. This has nothing to do with how Brennan will perform next year. In fact, it hurts your argument since we all know what Burrow did in 2019.

1. Ja'Marr Chase
2. Derek Stingley Jr.
3. Tyler Shelvin
4. Jabril Cox
5. Arik Gilbert
I am well aware of the fact that Gilbert hasn't taken a snap, but this is a prediction thread.
And I predict defenses will focus on stopping Chase, Marshall, and McMath - which is problematic when you have a matchup nightmare like Gilbert.
My next five would be (in no particular order): Stevens, Marshall, Brennan, Flott, and Clark.

Projecting LSU’s Top 5 Players will be easy!
1. Myles Brennan — LSU’s Spread N Shred Pass First Offense will succeed or fail on the Arm of their Field General. I watched Myles throw a ridiculous 64th TD in Soph year when he took the first of his 2 MS State 4-A titles. Myles will exceed 50 TDs in 2020 in 13 gms
2. Liam Shanahan — LSU’s Attack will also succeed or fail by the sharp play of their new Harvard Brain. Tough as a Bog Irish Hick, Liam is a special cut and individual that’s now loved by his teammates. Liam is a Leader and will excel in SEC trench warfare that separates the elite from the rest of the pack
3. Ja’Marr Chase — Target One in 2020 for all SEC DCs, Ja’Marr will draw double teams and allow others to run amok in 2020. Expect Racey to leap into the Biletnikoff Race with a blazing start Ja’Marr will average 1.5 TDs a game
4. John Emery — John will keep up 10 yds a pop receiving and become the majority work horse frequently backed up — Everyone eats
5. Dare Rosenthal — John will need lanes. With a new right eye after surgery, Emery will run big behind that left side of Ingram and Rosenthal, a monster and future NFL RD 1.
THATS TOP 5 FOR OFF — RTWFU

Gilbert was my # 6 on Offense behind 2 OL.
Myles don’t stay clean and Gilbert doesn’t catch too many

Wrong. Lester is trying to tell you that Brennen has zero experience in starting and playing a whole game during his time here. Does that mean he is gonna suck???? No it doesn’t. But I will say this about Myles. He is the most important piece of this years team and the way HE plays will dictate how well we do.

Protected by outstanding OL play with no weaknesses esp Center! Bravo!

Disrespect for Brennan is by those who didn't see him smash state records in HS. He had games where he threw so many TDs in first half he sat out most or all of second half. Yes, I know it's not college, but it IS "doing something". He is already known for his dedication and hard work, for learning from Burrow, his accuracy, and very importantly- like Burrow he has graduated and can study opponents all week long.

Nah that isn’t how it works
If Brennan has about 300 yds and 3 TDs a game, he's ABSOLUTELY going to be one of LSU's top 5 players.
If Brennan is the starter and DOESN'T have a good year, then his targets (Chase and Marshall) will also have down years.
