Problem is OL and Denbrock. 31-14 at the half if it wasn't.

Red Zone blocking and play calling saved FSU.

And at 31-14 it would have been Travis, not Daniels, running for his life in the 2d half,

Hard to run inside when you RG and Center live behind the LOS.

What I want to know is what was happening all fall. Were they just getting destroyed by Wingo and Smith? If so why were the coaches still trying to run inside? If they were blocking Wingo and Smith, then that is a big concern for our DL.

Yep should have been up big at half. Especially during those 4 consecutive stops the defense gave them in the 1st half. Like I said teams like Alabama and Georgia don't miss those. Those are moon walk scores for them. We have a ways to go to get there. The 2nd half collapse could also be attributed to the Lacey drop that likely would have been a TD and momentum changer when tied 17-17 and the final nail was the drop by Brian Thomas after that huge blown coverage that would have had the ball inside the 10. Two critical missed scores. After that it was over. 1st half mistakes kept them in the game and gave them confidence and the 2nd half mistakes allowed them to take us over.

Helen Keller could see you’re correct.

Right, we had 293 yards and got in the red zone six times, but could only muster 17 points. The problem was short yardage situations, not Jayden Daniels inability to throw the ball down the field.

Denbrock is definitely part of the problem

He would be alright if you Have the talent advantage every game.

The denbrock thing was pointed out last yr.

How do you not get jd on the edge?

How do you only run one screen all game?

No misdirection. No trick plays. Nothing easy. You don't even make the defense think.

Just look on the play where fsu faked the screen and the wr faked the block. He was wide open for a td.

Those are the type of plays you have to come up with when playing Great teams.

Said that they had an entire year and came up with that game plan
That is a huge problem going forward.

Kelly deserves blame too for re-hiring him. Kelly is going to have to switch up his system

I can't believe this hasn't been talked about more, take out JD last year and now FSU and the run game isn't good.

I was begging that we put Heard in at TE to help on that 4th and inches. we need to get bigger and stronger. JMO.

I like how LSU fans love to say we should've been up big if everything went perfectly, but are ignoring how poorly FSU played in the first half.

They had multiple big drops, a bunch of personal fouls, and threw a pick right after a muffed punt. FSU fans can say the same thing "we should have been up 31-7 at halftime."

O line wasn't getting push, but it's hard to when all you run is inside zone and the opponent knows it. I never saw any o lineman pull block to try to get and advantage.

The rest of it was poor play design and execution. JD is just not a pocket passer but that's exactly what they asked of him in the red zone. The low fade throw that hit FSU in the back was terrible. Throwing the receiver out of bounds in the back of the end zone was also bad. Then the big sack happened because the RB didn't block the LB well enough and JD was in the pocket.

Since JD isn't a pocket passer they got to start moving the pocket and get JD outside throwing on the run. I dont remember seeing them do any boot leg play action passes that usually punish aggressive defenses. Overall is was unimaginative play calling.

nicely put...had these observations (and more) as well.

Denbrock was mostly a position coach, and only 0C at Grand Valley State (D2 level) and Notre Dame before LSU: all under Kelly. The GVS and ND 0C jobs were ~20 years apart.

The sick irony is that at GVS, Kelly and Denbrock ran a WR-heavy spread offense adapted from Spurrier's successful "Fun-and-Gun"...It baffles me LSU isn't leveraging WR-heavy schemes from 2019 that got Jefferson, Chase, and Terrace Marshall Jr. tons of easy catches. JD5's not a speck to Burrow, and LSU's current WRs aren't matching 2019's, but those plays (and more motion) were designed to get WR separation and help QBs quickly analyze and pick apart Defenses.

Denbrock was in Kelly's wedding party. Promote him to an upstairs kind of associate HC job and get a real OC.
Scheme is old, formational variations are not used, lack of pin and pull to complement zone read, etc, etc.
